FEBRUARY 2021 - PAHRUMP, NV

 2 February;

We are at it again!  A nice big group of us headed out in the ATVs. Marc and Teresa rode with us again and Don came with us in his Jeep.  We were going to go to Wheeler Pass, but we hit to much snow so had to go somewhere else.

The tires were slinging mud and snow back up on us.  We were soaked and super muddy, but we had a blast.  We got to one hill though and no matter how I tried I could not get up it in the snow.  I even had Rob try.  He wasn’t able to make it either.  It might be time for new tires.

3 February

I talked with Pam a couple days ago and found out that her brother died from Covid.  That is terribly sad.  There are two vaccines out, but it is slow in getting them.  All the front - line medical people are getting them first.  Here in Pahrump you have to be 70 years or older.  Craig suggested I go to Souther California.  The RV Resort is in Riverside County. So, I went on line to see where you could get vaccinated there.  Sure enough,  all the Albertsons in Temecula, Marietta, Palm Springs, etc were giving them.  So, I was able to get an appointment in Palm Springs.

Teresa went with me.  We left Pahrump at 7 am and arrived in Palm Springs at 11:30.  We found out where the Albertsons was and then went and got some lunch.  We had a yummy burger in a ver friendly patio restaurant.  Afterward we walked around for a bit. My appointment was for 1:30, but they took me in and gave me the shot at 1:00.  Easy Peasy!  I waited for the mandatory 15 minutes to ensure I wasn’t going to have a reaction and we headed home.  We got home a 5 pm.  It was so nice of her to go with me. We had the most beautiful fiery sunset this evening.

The next day, the 4th Rob and I walked to the gym, but I was a bit wiped out and so I didn’t work hard.  We walked back and I was getting a big time headache.  I laid down on the couch, wrapped in a blanket at about 11:30 and slept until about 5.  Rob came in and was making a bunch of noise which was setting off my head more, so I took some aspirin and went to bed. I slept the rest of the night.  The next day I felt fine.  Just my arm where I received the injection was sore for a couple days.

10 February

I have Neuropathy in my feet.  They are somewhat numb and tingly.  I am going to the podiatrist and they are working on my feet.  They are over near the community center and several of the wild horses like to hang out in the grassy area there.  They are the same three that we often see out in the desert.

I love seeing them in town.  Im not sure if you can walk up to them and pet them or not.  I have never tried.  A week or so later they rounded them up and took them to a reserve.

11 February

Marc and Teresa went out to the place we told them about where we got our wind chasers.  They bought two of them for themselves.  They got a better deal though, they got an extra sail and some extra tires.  Hmm.  Anyway, the 4 of us went out to the lake and had a ball again.

We took a bunch of videos, but again, I cant really post them here.

 12 February

Way back in December, we ordered a hot tub.  Due to the Coronavirus things are super slowed down.  People are staying at home sheltering in place and business are shut down.  So, manufacturing has come to either a screeching halt or really slowed down.  Anyway, we finally got our hot tub today.
They had to crane it over our back fence.

It had been raining all day the day yesterday.  The crane truck has a leg sticking out the right side to support it and to counter act the weight of the crane and the load against the truck.  Right after this young man straightened out the tub the ground under the leg gave way and the truck tilted and dropped the tub the last 4 feet.  A second or so earlier and this poor guy would have been squished.  Phew!!!!

They used a big piece of PVC pipe and rolled it into place on our patio.  The men came and did our wiring and then they filled it up.
Yippee!! We finally have a hot tub again.

16 February;

Out in the RZR again.  This was a long but really fun day.  We went over Wheeler Pass.  It was beautiful.  Marc and Teresa came with us again.  We were all bundled up with head scarfs to keep our ears warm and Teresa had a blanket and life was wonderful.

I love my beer stein flag!

We definitely hit snow again going over the pass, and we got muddy again, but we didn’t get stuck.

We had lunch on the other side of the pass, on the Vegas Side in Cold Creek Picnic park.  There was a cold wind.  We actually remembered to bring chairs so we sat in among the trees in the sun and it was awesome.

As I said, it was a long day.  We met up at 10 am and got home at 6pm, but it was a lot of fun.  I am so glad I got this RZR.

19 February
My bike has been dead because I pulled the charging club out of it and broke a wire.  Again due to Covid, everything is backed up.  A shop has had my battery for about 8 weeks and I don’t think they have fixed it yet.  In the mean time, I found a place to buy a new battery for about $750.  A lot of money, but about $300 cheaper than usual.  So, Rob went to the shop in Vegas that has my battery and picked up my charger.  Yippee, Im back in business.
We went on a wonderful bike trail.  We started on Mustang Loop, then Cactus Slalom, then Rubber Duckie; then back to Mustang Loop and back to the car.  It was a beautiful warm day and a really fun folly Polly trail.

Really fun tree on the Rubber Duckie Trail.  There are a gazillion rubber duckies hanging on this cactus tree.  So cool.

23 February

Rob and Don went out with the group in the RZR.  I think they went to the mine again, but it was still pretty and they had a good time.  First time Don has gone out in the RZR.  They are both spoiled and like the quiet, music, and climate control in the Jeep.  It figures, they are both Air Force Prim-a-donas!

I didn’t go because I stayed home to do some sewing. Kate had extra fabric and wanted a cushion for her swing love seat.

And a neighbor wanted seat backs and arm rests for her patio furniture.

The challenge here were the arm rests.  I have never done arm rests before.  But, we were both happy with the results.  She is a sweet heart and has a wonderful kitty.

VERY SAD COVID UPDATE....

22 FEBRUARY, THE USA HAS REACHED 500,000 COVID DEATHS.  one half a million Americans have died from the Covid Virus in one year.  And to make matters worse, there is still a large number of people who still believe the whole thing is a hoax.  They are still refusing to wear masks, they are still getting together in large un-protected gatherings.  What a mess.  An extremely sad mess.

Rob was able to get his first vaccine here in Pahrump on Feb 12th as an essential transportation worker.  He will get his second March 12.  My second will be back in Palm Spring on March 3rd.  What a relief.
