DECEMBER, 2020 PAHRUMP, NV

 A lot has gone on here in December. We have new friends, Marc and Teresa, as well as Kate and Joe in Henderson and Don and Linda.  Since all of us have minimized contact with others, we have been able to get together. Not all eight of us together, just two couples at a time.  That has made it nice.

Someone gave a doggy fleece to Kate asking her if she knew anyone who could use it.  She naturally sent it to us for Bella.  It’s very cute.....

It was actually a bit tight on Bella, and she has a lot of sweaters, so we gave it to Marc and Teresa’s dog Raina.  She is a chorkie , a Chihuahua Yorke mix. She is very cute.

I did a bunch of sewing.  I covered the dinning room chair seats..

They turned out really well and look very nice back on the chairs.
I also did the fire pit cover..
And some cushions for an RV..

Since we had to cancel our boating trip (since Rob is not going to get the two years off after all) and since I had been saving money, I decided to buy myself a Polaris RZR.  Rob has his Jeep and I have wanted a RZR since the very first time we went to Baja.  We found a great one on line for sale in Las Vegas and we finally got to go look at it.  We drove it bought it and brought it home.  It is sooooooo much fun.
We took it out into the desert on gravel roads and dirt trails.  We found a canyon and drove down into it. At the end of it we found a narrow canyon that we could only walk through.

A couple days later a friend took us out and showed us the petrographs and some of the wild horses.  It was a lot of fun.

We spent Christmas Day with Kate and Joe in Henderson.  We had a lovely English dinner.
New Year’s Eve was spent quietly at home.  It was our 24th Anniversary.

Corona Virus Update.

Yes it is still with us and people are still ignoring the protocols and advice for staying safe and healthy and protecting the safety and welfare of others.  There are still people calling it a conspiracy and a hoax, can you believe that.
There was a downward trend of new cases by the end of October, but then the holidays were on their way.
People ignored the advise to “stay home; do not travel; do not get together with family and friends”.  And so they traveled, and they got together with family and friends and they infected each other that the number of infected and the number of deaths rose.
By 14 December 2020 the number of deaths in the US was 300,000.  100,000. People were dieing 1000 per day.  It is horrible. People are so selfish.

Nov. 7th Joe Biden was declared President Elect of the US and Kamala Harris the first female, first African American, first Asian American Vice President.

December 11th;
the FDA approved the Pfizer vaccine for emergency use against Covid-19.
December 14th
first vaccine was administered.  It is going to frontline emergency care workers first.  There will be two doses required, 21 days apart. Next will be nursing home residents, then 70 y/o and above, then 65 y/o and above along with essential workers.
December 18th;
FDA approved the Moderna Vaccine for emergency use.  Two doses will be required 28 days apart.
December 21st;
A new strain of Covid-19 has been detected in Africa.
December 29th;
1st variant strain of Covid 19 was found in the Us, in Colorado.

They say that even after we have received both doses of the vaccine we will still need to continue to wear masks and social distance from others.  We can still be carriers and infect those who have not yet been vaccinated.

What a sad year this has been.  Thankfully, all of our family members are still safe and healthy.  Both Lauren and Grace got the virus, but both pulled through it.  Both of Grant and Owen got it, but they got over it as well.  Thankfully none of the adults have been stricken.

WEEK OF 29 NOVEMBER TO 5 DECEMBER; PAHRUMP, NV

 Sunday; 29 Nov.

I spent the morning decorating the house somewhat.  I got to the guest bathroom and had a snowman shaking hands with a puppy quilted wall hanging, but needed a little something more. I had the quilt pattern of the snowman in the Christmas stocking that I did for Mom and Barb and I have the pattern for the 3 snowmen for the January pattern.  I decided to do the two of them for either side of the quilt that is already done.  I cut out the fabric and then put it away to watch the football games.

What a waste of time watching the Raiders is sometimes.  They had their asses handed to them by the Falcons.  43 to 6.  I couldn’t even watch the entire game.  I was so embarrassing.  If the Raiders and Seahawks play on the same day they play at the same time.  We record both games.  Rob hates watching commercials so we generally wait until the 2nd quarter before we start watching.  Thank goodness I had another game to switch to.  Also, thank goodness, the Seahawks knew how to play today.  I have been worried about Russel Wilson lately.  He has thrown some interceptions and allowed the play clock to run down resulting in penalty yardage.  I was afraid maybe he was suffering from some brain injuries.  Today he was on his game though.  In fact, they beat the Eagles 23 to 17.  That pretty much took up my entire day.

Monday 30, November.

I sewed and decorated and Rob, staying with Tony rode their bike up Mount Tamaulipas (affectionately know as Mt Tam). They face timed me when they got to the top.  They also shared some awesome pictures with me.

Beautiful day as you can see and they had a great time.Rob also sent me a picture of our spare tire cover on our Jeep.  I had gotten for Rob and he haphazardly put it on and it was all crooked.  I gave him a hard time about it.  Tony straightened it out and it looks much better now.

Tuesday 1 Dec

I continued to decorate and to work on the 2 quilted wall hangings.  Rob is now staying with Ag.  He played golf today with his friend Sean and Sean’s son.  Sean used to work with Kamal Harris, our newly elected Vice President of the United States.

Wednesday; 2 December

I finished decorating the house and finished the two quilted wall hangers.  I hung them in the bathroom and they look pretty cute.  Snowmen rule!

Thursday, 3 December.

I did my usual Thursday chores of changing sheets, doing laundry and cleaning the house.

I’ve had all kinds of responses to my sewing add.  The first person to contact me wants me to do a couple of covers for his boat.  How ironic is that. We find out we cannot do our boat trip, I decided I’m going to fill my time with sewing and the first person to contact me wants me to do something for his boat.

A woman wants me to recover her dinning room chairs, I measured and she is going to order fabric.  A woman wants me to make a cover for her outdoor fire pit.  I measured and she is going to order fabric.
