JANUARY 2012 HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! Hope your Holidays were Happy & Healthy.
Some of our friends and family members have been reminding me that we have not posted to the blog for a while. Rather than go back and figure out what went on, I figured it would just be easier to start with the new year, so here we are.
Rob and I were not able to spend Thanksgiving or Christmas together because he had to work. I spent Thanksgiving with my family at my brother Art's house in Fresno. The day after Thanksgiving my Mother, her dog Charlie, myself and our cat YumYum drove up to Tahoe. We stayed at Nancy's cabin in Incline. Rob flew in on Saturday. Sunday we went through our storage in Reno and pulled our sofa and love seat out. Unfortunately they both suffered severe molestation by some critter. The sofa was so bad we had to throw it away. We were able to salvage the love seat and I cut fabric off the sofa to repair it. I also dug through and found a couple of my formal gowns which I needed for New Year's eve parties here at the Ranch.
Christmas I went to Fresno again, as Rob had to work. We celebrated Christmas at my Dad and Stepmother's house. Sadly, my Father was not with us this years. He suffered a massive heart attack May 24th and was not able to be revived. He has definately been missed.
I brought my Mom, her dog Charlie and my Stepmother Barbara back with me. We all had a nice visit. We went shopping one day, Barbara, Rob and I played golf one day,we had dinner with friends, and mainly enjoyed each other's company and the glorious weather. It was in the mid to upper 70s during the day and 50s at night. Amazing!
New Years Eve we celebrated our 15th Anniversary and welcomed in the New Year at a wonderful Gala here in the park. Mom and Barbara were with us as well. Since there are so many "old ones" here in the park we celebrated the New Year as it arrived across ther Nation. 9 pm we celebrated in New York, 10:00 in Chicago, 11:00 was Denver, and by midnight there were only about 30 of us left to ring in 2012. It was a fun eve.
Rob had to go back to work on New Year's day. Mom, Charlie, Barbara and I returned to Fresno on Monday Jan 2nd. I spent the night and then returned to the Ranch on Tuesday the 3rd.
I had told Rob that I wanted to get checked out and current so I could fly again. So for Christmas he had written to the FAA and got a copy of my license, arranged for a flight physical for both of us (he was due), gave me a book all about the helicopter I am going to get checked out in and a certificate to fly with the check-out instructor. Now I'm nervous again.
My brother Art came to visit us on Wednesday Jan 4th. We had a fun visit. He had a long and stressful drive and got here after dark. There was a shooting on Hwy 210 so they shut it down and diverted everyone through Glendale. That process took him an extra hour. Anyway, we all had dinner that night across the street at our friends Jack and Colleen's place. We (everyone except Rob) drank way to much wine. Art and I were not feeling so great the next morning and I was pretty green for most of the day. But, we did manage to play a round of golf here at the park, go wine tasting at one of the many Temecula wineries and had a wonderful dinner of grilled salmon and grilled vegies. He left late morning on Friday (which was yesterday). He is headed to Long Beach to visit our cousin James and his family for a couple days.
Last night Rob went out to get something out of the "downstairs" The lower rig storage, and discovered the whole storage was flooded. We had to take every thing out and sop all the water up. It was the main line. Rob tightened it up and we left everything out to dry.
This morning we discovered it had leaked again. Luckily we hadn't put stuff back in. We spent the day going through all our storages and reorganizing as well as taking down and storing all our Christmas decorations. Now we are settled watching play off NFL games.
I have decided I will update the blog on Saturdays. Good eventing all
