Return to Tahoe, 2013!

The last time I wrote in this was January of 2012.  That's because we have been stuck in one place, and that has been here in Aguanga at Rancho California RV Resort.  Stuck isn't really true, and, we haven't actually been here the entire time.
In 2013 Rob made the comment that he was "tired of living in a box".  Hmm "what are you tired of?" I say.  "Bumping my elbows on the walls in the shower", bumping my forehead on the dresser when I bend over to tie my shoes", says he.  "What do you want to do about that?", I say.  "I want to go home", says he.  "To Tahoe?" I ask?  As it turned out, the people who were leasing our house were ready to move on, so we mutually gave 30 day notice and they had to be out by May 31st.  Rob decided that he wanted to be back in our home in Tahoe with friends and family celebrating his "50th" Birthday on June 25th.  Sooooooooo, we moved.
We informed our friend Kim Baca who works for Fairways at the Ranch that we were going to leave and we wanted to lease our our lot.  We informed her that we wanted to come back in March.
The two sets of tenants who we had in our home in Tahoe from Oct 2009 to May 2013 totally destroyed the yard, (didn't want to pay for water) trashed the carpet, painted walls odd colors and evenpainted  a snowboard landscape in the downstairs bedroom, and left a ton of crap.
Rob decided that we would take this opportunity to remove all the popcorn ceiling throughout the house and put wood paneling in the ceiling in the living room.  We decided since we were redoing things that we would remove all the cedar paneling in the downstairs as well.  We needed to re-carpet and repaint the entire house.
It was a crazy month.
We moved everything we owned, from storage in Temecula and storage in Reno into the garage.
We lived in the RV in Reno for a couple weeks while the house was being renovated.  That was kind of fun.  Then Rob drove the RV to LAX and Yum Yum and I stayed at Nancy's cabin in Tahoe.  Mostly we just slept there, because during the day I was unloading boxes and putting things away where I could, such as the kitchen, clothes, my sewing room, etc.  It was crazy. Our friend David Marks, amazing guy, did all the ceiling stripping and the paneling in the living room.  Rob and I demo'd the cedar paneling in the master downstairs and then David had to do dry wall.  He also did all the paining in the downstairs master, the dining room, living room and upstairs hallway.  Rob and I painted the downstairs bedroom with the Snowboarder.  Not sure why we had to paint it, David is so much better than I.  We were running out of time for Rob's birthday, and we still needed carpet and move all the furniture. The guys came at 5:00 at night and worked until midnight installing the carpet.
Rob was going to drive up with his Sister Sarah, her Hubby Noel and their son Liam on Thursday night and others were arriving on Friday and we were having his birthday party on Sat.
I was finally able to hire some guys to help me move furniture on Wednesday.  they were really great guys and helped me a lot.  We got everything moved in and I got to make my bed sleep in it that night.
Thursday I got the rest of the beds made, put the rest of everything I could away, got pictures on the wall and things ready for company.  i got a shower and figured I had a couple hours to chill before Rob, Sarah, et.al. arrived.  Not so 15 min after I sat down, with still wet hair, they arrived.
It was a great Birthday Bar-B-Q with awesome friends and family and Rob was very happy.
The summer was a typical lovely Tahoe with Golf, mountain bilking, and Shakespeare. We also re-landscaped the yard.  We put sod in in the back and I completely tore out all the weeds and grass in the front.  I moved rocks around and made tiers with the existing rocks and landscaping blocks.  I planted ground cover and some perennial flowering plants.  I must admit that it turned out nice and was a 150% improvement over what it had been before.
We also replaced our roof.  All and all things were looking pretty good.
The winter on the other hand was not so great.  It was freezing and non snowy.  We were not able to do the winter things that we really liked to do like skate ski, cross country ski, snow shoe, and even resort skiing wasn't very good.  On top of the drought, all the reasons we left Tahoe in the first place were still there.  Rob hated commuting, I had absolutely nothing to do while he was gone, no real friends,  Just not digging it.
I did re connect with some of my friends tho.  I connected with Jayna who I worked with from 2000 - 2003 at Processor Creek Charter School.  Since I wasn't doing anything else and she had started a new charter school we talked about me going back to work for her again as her Director of Special Ed.  That's what I did for her before.  The new schools were Pivot Charter School  There are 4 of them.  One in Santa Rosa, Chico, San Diego (actually San Marcos) and Riverside, (actually in Corona).  Corona and San Marcos are about 1- 1.5 hour driving time from the Ranch, and the other two are 3 hours from Tahoe.
As it turned out, the winter was so bad we decided to go back to the Ranch early. So, we did.  Funny thing, we had two "long" term tenants at the Ranch while we were gone.  Each was supposed to be there for 6 months, but each time they fell in love with the place {as is the story with everyone who rents there (even us)} and they ended up buying lots of their own.  Funny also, they liked our place so much they copied our place when they did their own build outs.
The nice thing about having gone back to Tahoe, doing all the remodel work and putting all our belongings back into it was,  when summer rolled around again and it got so bloody hot in SoCal we went back up to Tahoe for the cooler summer.
