SUNDAY, 22 November
We continued packing up the stuff from the RV and cleaning out the garage. We got rid of a bunch of stuff again. That always feels good. We took all the dining chairs and the table out so that only the sofas would be in there when the carpets get cleaned. Rob took the table apart. The top is warped and needs to either be fixed or replaced. we are going to see what Joe recommends.

They came out and cleaned the carpets in the RV and both sofas. It looks and smells so much better in there. I hope we don’t have any more issues with the rats.
Wednesday, 25 Nov.
We found a new place to store the RV. The new place has walls surrounding it with mini storage units. There are also a ton to RVs stored in there. It shouldn’t be as dusty and dirty since the wind can’t freely blow the dust around. They also have some sort of high frequency sound system to help with rats. When Rob took the RV back he said we still have rats and they chewed through the new water hoses he had put in up to the water pump. He went and got some non-child-friendly, non-pet friendly rat poison to put in there. Hopefully that will do the trick.
I made a pecan pie and the dressing for the turkey dinner for tomorrow. I also made Rob’s favorite orange/cranberry relish, as well as a traditional fresh cranberry sauce. Rob prepared the brine to soak the turkey in over night.
Thursday, 26 November. HAPPY THANKS GIVING EVERYBODY.
It’s really cold and windy today. That’s kind of crazy. I did the laundry and cleaned the house. Then I peeled the sweet potatoes for mashed potatoes. I also whipped the whipping cream for the pecan pie. Next I got a shower and dressed for company
Rob started the green egg lump charcoal and got the turkey ready and put it in. It will smoke for several hours.
Kate and Joe arrived. We had a charcuterie tray and some wine. We started a game of cards. They like to play games in the evenings. I do to. We played a game that they like. Kate won. Next we started a game of spades. That is one that they know and Rob and I know well. We played a couple rounds and then it was time for dinner.
Kate blanched some vegetables and I heated/cooked the dressing. We set the table and had a wonderful smoked turkey, dressing, vegetables, mashed yams, cranberry dinner. We played more cards and then had Pecan pie with whipped cream.
We finished our card game and then sadly, Kate and Joe went home. It was a lovely evening.
Friday, 27 November.
Yippee, I get to start decorating for Christmas. I have been chomping at the bit for a week or so. But first......
Marilyn has an ATV seat that needs to be recovered.
So, Rob and I went out to pick it up. I am to do the seat and the back. She lives in Pahrump, about 5 miles away. She has a barn, 3 horses of her own and boards 4 more. She really needs this Atv to work around the place. She already had the vinyl and everything. We picked it up and took it home.I started pulling the staples out of it right away.
Later we went over to Teresa and Mark’s for left over Turkey dinner. They had also invited Marci. Marci is a good friend of theirs and, she is the realtor that we went through when we sold our Al Fresco house to buy this house. She handled both sides. We had a really fun evening, chatting and getting to know everyone better. The food was amazing. Teresa had had her sister, brother-in-law, Mom and Dad over for Thanksgiving (a little scary with the whole Covid crisis going on) Anyway, They had ham and turkey, beans, candied yams, mashed potato’s, dressing, and other stuff as well as both pumpkin and pecan pie. It was a very nice evening and this time both Raina and Bella got along just fine.
Saturday, 28 Nov.
I finished Marilyn’s ATV seat and let her know. I asked if we could bring it back to her. She was excited to have it done so quickly. I think it turned out nice. Quite an improvement if I must say so myself.
Needless to say she was thrilled, both with the results and with the fact that she was only without her very, needed ATV for only one day. After dropping it off we went out to the RV storage. When we pulled up to our RV there was a very large rat on the ground, outside the RV. It was very definitely on its last legs. Thank goodness for that. We went inside and found more damage from the little shit. A hole in the carpet just in front of the kitchen. Not sure how we are going to fix/hide that. We could tell it was dieing and knew the poison was working. We cleaned up the mess so that we could see if there was anything new the next time we came back and added more poison.
We actually came there to pick up the dinning chairs. The fabric I ordered to redo them arrived, so I needed the chairs. When we got home Rob took all the bottoms off for me. Our chairs all have storage in the seats. Our table does as well. The seats are connected with hinges so he took them off all four of the seats. Yippee
I took Rob to the McCaren airport in Las Vegas. He is flying to the Bay Area tonight. He is going to stay 3 nights with Tony, pick up the Jeep and spend 2 or three nights with Ag and then drive home.
