WEEK OF NOVEMBER 15TH, PAHRUMP, NV

 SUNDAY

It’s warming up again.  Only about 54 in the mornings rather than the 34 degrees it was last week.

Our football games are not until later this afternoon so we went into town and ran some errands.  We wanted to get some storage bins that would work on both the boat and make things easier and more rat proof in the RV.

When we got home I checked email and discovered that some quilting stuff I had order had been delivered yesterday to our mail box.  So, Bella and I walked down to retrieve it.  Yippee, I have projects to work on again.

Rob walked off to the gym and Bella and I walked down to the creek.  I didn’t want to do the full 4 miles, but she needed to get out and run around.  After ward I went into the den and got started on my projects.  I had made a little wool quilt/appliqué hanging for each Mom and Barbara for the harvest season.  They were both thrilled with them, so I decided I was going to make them each one for December.  They are fun and easy and turn out very nicely.  I worked on the first one until it was time for the Raiders foot ball game.

The Raiders played the Denver Broncos in the beautiful new Vegas stadium.  They are big time rivals and there were a few tussles and one fight with punches that resulted in a player from each team being kicked off the field.  It was a good game and happily the Raiders won.  They are now first in their division.  First time in many, many years.

After that game we watch the Seattle Seahawks play the LA Rams.  I swear, I think something has happened to Russell Wilson, the Seahawk’s quarterback. The last three games he has been really off.  He has thrown interceptions, (about 5 of them), twice in this game he has allowed the play clock to run down resulting in 5 yard penalties.  He did the same thing last game as well. Any way, they lost again.  Three games in a row now when the were undefeated for their first 5 games.  It’s very sad.

I continued to work on my project while watching the game, the rest of the Master’s golf tournament and a movie.  I went to bed at 11 pm at the end of the movie and had completed all the appliqué work by hand on the first project.  Now all I have left to do on it is the edging and backing.  It turned out very cute and I am very proud of myself for doing it all by hand.

MONDAY

We chilled with coffee and then went got busy sorting stuff in the garage.  We put stuff that was definitely going in the boat in one bin and gathered stuff like that, then collected stuff that was going back into the RV.  We threw away stuff we no longer needed or that was outdated.  After that we went off to play golf. I only played 9 holes and then came home. Rob continued on and played all 18.

I came home and got busy on the second project.

Rob came home and started watching the Geology videos that Kate loaned to him. They are pretty interesting.  I continued to work on my project.

The mobile RV people came.  It turned out it was Rats.  He said mice get their water from their food, but rats need a water source so they chewed through our gray water tank.  They made a hole about the size of a baseball.

They are going to come back on Thursday to replace the tank and the parts that are necessary.  Then we will be able to hook the water back up so I can clean and start loading stuff back into it.

Rob watched Monday night football and I continued on my project and watching a program I had gotten hooked into.  I finished all the hand stitching on the second banner.

TUESDAY

I worked on and finished both banner.  I had to sew the edges and then the batting and then the backs on each.  Then, I had to do more decorative hand stitching where the edging is sewn onto the wool.  I should have done it before I put the batting and the backing on, then it couldn’t be seen on the back, but I am not that smart.  So, you can see all my back stitches.  What a dummy.  I only had one hangar the correct size, so I had to order another one.  It is supposed to arrive tomorrow.  Then I will get both of them in the mail.  I think they turned out very cute.

I think they will like them.

WEDNESDAY

We had our coffee and then went for our 4 mile walk.  Bella sure loves to go.

When we came back we watched a video on navigation.   She explained the charts and easy ways to remember navigational markers and buoys.  I feel better after watching the video.  I still need to learn how to do it for real though.  I am a bit nervous about all of that.

Rob took off for Vegas.  He has a golf lesson and then is going to Costco.

I looked for and found two items.  One is a book of 100 side trips off the great loop.  The other are blank cards that we can use for calling or boating cards.  They have a Monet background that looks like water.  We will have our name, the name of our boat, our email, and possibly phone numbers and the address for our blog.  Then when we meet people we can give them out.

THURSDAY

So tomorrow we leave or probably Saturday morning now due to the damage the rats did.  He is going to come back tomorrow morning and hook the sink directly into the sewer line.  Not a great plan, but the only thing that can be done until the tank is either replaced or fixed.

In the meantime, we continue sorting a packing and getting ready.

We were in for the evening when Rob saw a notice from the company (Alaska Airlines) that some of the pilots out on incentive leave have already been given notices to return to work and that they are planning to continue recalling them.  What?! What does this mean for Rob being out for a 2 years?  What does this mean for our Great Loop Plans? Rob made some phone calls and found out that one of his friends had, in fact, received notice to return to work.  He was only out on a 6 month leave, but still.

FRIDAY

So ALPA (the Airline industry’s Union) put out today that they met with the company and that yes, the company intends to recall all of its 737 Captains by the end of May.  What does that mean for us?  Well, if we left on Sat we would get to Mobile, Alabama by 29 Nov.  If we found a boat as soon as we got there it would be at least mid January before it was ours.  We would start the loop in February or March and 2 months into our year long adventure we would have to return to Calif.  That means we would have to find a place to store the boat for the next 3 years.  That does not make any sense to either one of us at all. So disappointing.  So, we cancelled our boat adventure plans.  We called our buddy up and told him not to come today but rather to order us a new tank.

while we were out walking a saw a carpet cleaning truck up our street.  I decided to call them to see about cleaning the carpets and the sofas in the RV.  They can come out on Monday.

I decided, since we decided that we would rather stay here than return to Aguanga, that I want to sew or do something rather than just sit around all day.  So, I posted on Nextdoor, which is a neighborhood/surrounding area social media.  I said that I really like sewing, that I like doing patio furniture, covers for patio furniture, reupholstering golf cart seats and making covers for golf cart seats.  And, I said I was bored. We’ll see what happens

Saturday

We decided not to store anything in the RV in case it got critters again.  So, we set up another storage rack and took everything out of the RV and put everything on shelves in the garage.
