WEEK OF 8 NOVEMBER 2020; PAHRUMP, NV

 SUNDAY

It is really cold this morning.  I believe it was 33 degrees when Bella and I went out.  There is a dusting of snow on the mountains around us.  There is a cloud concealing Mt Charleston, but I’m sure the bowl has snow in it this morning.  I’m glad the weather has finally changed and that it is colder.

We played on or iPads and then watched football. The Seahawks got their butts kicked.  I’m not sure who was wearing their uniforms, because it did not seem to be the regular boys.  They got wooded 44 - 34.  That’s hideous.  The Raiders had a really good game.  It was a bit scary for a little while.  At one point it looked like the Chargers were going to come back and get them, but the Raiders held on and finally beat them 31 to 26.  Thank goodness.

I talked to Mom for about 30 Min.  She sounded really good.  She sounded perky and seems to still enjoy living at Fairwinds. That’s good.  Her friend, her friend that she has known the longest, Elenor now lives at Fairwinds and they get together for either lunch or dinner every day.  She is still playing a lot of bridge.

I fixed some yummy Parmesan, mayo, garlic chicken with roasted potatoes and broccoli.  It all turned out pretty good.

MONDAY

I woke up with a big knot in my back under my left scapula and it was pulling my neck all out of wack.  It hurt so bad.  I used Rob muscle pounder machine on the knot and it helped a bit.  Then I laid on a ball under the knot.  It is amazing how that helps.

Barbara called me this morning.  It was great talking to her.  I had been meaning to call her, but I kept getting busy and forgetting.  She sounds great.  She’s in Colorado and they are much stricter than Calif on the Covid restrictions.  They cannot have visitors from outside, so she signs out for Doctor’s appointments and spends the day with Erik and her cutie pie great granddaughter.  She is going to Physical Therapy  once a week for her hip and lower extremities.  That’s good, she needs someone to look out for her and help her with her strength and mobility.  I was very glad to hear it.  She seems to like the gal and says she’s doing her exercises at home.

We went into town to check on mail and get groceries.  I was really hoping my wine (Tobin James from Paso Robles) had been delivered there, but no luck.  Rob decided to get his Shingles booster so we went to CVS for that and then back home.

We bought two home made Turkey Pot pies at Albertsons while we were there so we heated them up for dinner.  I couldn’t eat mine because it had to much rosemary in it.  I had left over chicken and potatoes instead.  Much better.

We watched some of Monday night football and then a movie.

TUESDAY 10 NOV.

Rob is feeling pretty lousy today due to the vaccine.  He spent much of the day sleeping and resting.  I went back into town because I wanted to make some cookies and realized I didn’t have some of the ingredients.

I came back and made a batch of Baileys’ Irish Cream Chocolate Chip cookies and a batch of Blonde Heath Bar Bits cookies.  They Heath Bar Bits are the best.

I packed up some of each of the two batches into a tin and then wrapped them inside the Bar-B-Que cover and got it all packaged up to send to Pam and Craig.  The cookies are for them and they will take the cover over to our lot next weekend when they go back to the Ranch.

I fixed a big salad with all the left over chicken, potatoes, green beans and everything else.  It was quite tasty.

We watched another movie.

WEDNESDAY

We had our coffee and caught up on the news and everything.

I showered and headed down to Las Vegas for a follow-up hair cut.  Michael is such a nice guy.  I took a big plate of the cookies and gave them to him to share.  We really do not need all those cookies around.

After my haircut I headed over to Kate’s for lunch.  She had fixed Pumpkin Soup, and made it from scratch, purée ing the pumpkin and everything.  She didn’t like it.  I thought it was good, but it did not taste like pumpkin.  Some spice she used, we never did figure out which one, took the pumpkin taste away.  I liked it.  We had such a nice afternoon chatting about all kinds of stuff.  It was really lovely.  Nice to get together with someone one-on-one and have meaningful conversations.

I went to Costco after Kate’s.  Poor Bella was out of chicken.  I bought a few items and then headed for home.

Rob was still feeling pretty lousy.  He was watching Band of Brothers.  It is such a great series.  I threw a Lasagna in the oven and then sat down to watch the rest of the program with him.

After dinner he told me my programs were on tonight.  What programs?  All your Chicago programs.  OMG tonight is the season premiere of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago PD.  Yippee.  I watched all three and then went to bed.  I wonder if last night was the premiere for NCIS and Bull.  I’ll have to check.

THURSDAY, 12 NOVEMBER

It is still cold in the mornings, but the snow on top of Mt Charleston seems to be melting away.

While chilling with our coffee Rob got a text from Ida asking if he’d heard the sad news about Jack.  Shortly after that Pam texted me.  Jack, our friend Jack of Jack and Jill that we just had dinner with Friday night died in his sleep in the wee hours this morning.  His breathing sounded weird and woke up Jill.  She tried to wake him up and couldn’t. She called 911 and started compressions.  The paramedics came and also did CPR but couldn’t revive him.  My God, it’s so sad and so shocking and my heart is breaking for poor Pam.  And for Craig actually, they were very close.

Rob, Bella and I went for a walk and through tears he told me how much he loved me and that if he died I should know that he loved me with all his being and is happy and thanked me for taking him and being with him and loving him.  He said he always wonders if when someone dies if they were able to tell the person they loved the most how much they loved them and how much they meant to them and he wanted to make sure he told me now.  Jesus.  He is my heart.  I told him nothing better happen to him because I have no idea what I would do without him.

Later we played golf.  All day I am bothered by Jack’s death.  He was healthy, he was active,  he had lots of friends, he seemed very happy.  It just doesn’t make any sense.

FRIDAY

Rob did some running around.  He went to the grocery store and mail messages and more and then went and picked up the RV.  He brought it back to the house and parked it in front so that we can start loading it for the trip as well as with things we definitely want and might want on the boat.

When Rob pulled up with the RV fluid was pouring out.  He said we have Rats! They had chewed through the white fresh water hose, definitely something to do with the gray water tank and other stuff.  We immediately took everything out of the underneath storage and threw out stuff that had been chewed or peed on or that we didn’t want or need.  Then we vacuumed it all out.  I checked the inside and didn’t find any rat damage.  Everything is filthy though, like it had gone through a dust storm with all the windows open.  I can’t really do anything about cleaning it until we can hook water to it and have a place for the water to go again.

Rob called the RV repair place and they said bring it in on Monday, but they won’t be able to look at it until Wednesday.  Then he called a Mobil Repair guy and he is he would be able to come out on Monday.  Nothing happens fast around her.

SATURDAY

Rob had stuff to do in Vegas.  I am supposed to recover Kate’s cushions for two of her outside chairs, but the fabric isn’t going to arrive until Dec.  So, that was one of the places for him to go, to take her cushions back to her.  He also wanted to take his old mountain bike in for a tune up.  I do not want to take my Ebike on the boat.  It is very heavy and everyone’s bikes end up rusting.  I thought I would just take my cool cruiser, but he convinced me to take his old mountain bike instead.  So, it is going in for a tune up.  Lastly, Rob wanted to go and hit some golf balls.

We went for a quick walk and then he left.  I played on the computer for awhile then cleaned the house.  My neck is still killing me so I sat with a heating pad on it for awhile.  Finally I got busy in the RV.  I went through all the stuff in the Med. Cabinet and in the drawers in the bathroom.  I threw out all the old expired medication and all my old make up that I either don’t wear or don’t want to wear.  I cleaned out the linen closet and then started in on the pantry.  I threw away old stuff and stuff that was left over from when my Mom was living in it.  As I was finishing up Rob arrived.  Perfect timing.  I was done.

We came inside and ordered pizza for dinner.  Then we settled in and watched the Masters for awhile and then a movie.
