MONDAY 8 JULY SAUSALITO TO SAN RAFAEL.

It’s moving day, but we woke up to total fog.  First time since we have been here we are all socked in.

That’s ok, we aren’t in a hurry.  We are moving back over to Loch Lomond for a couple days and need to wait for the tide to come in so that it will be deep enough to get into Loch Lomond.

We got the boat all ready and moved out.  It’s my day to drive.  Yippee!

We left Sausalito and headed for Angel Island.

We were able to see some of the old forts on Angel Island

San Quintin Prison

And the osprey Nest up on the channel marker.

We really had to fight to get into the dock.  Between the wind and the current it was not a pretty sight.

We basically ran into and over the “honey dew” boat that was tied up on the dock pumping out.  He was quite nice about it and helped us finally get secured to the dock.  We had to wait quite some time to use the pump out as it wasn’t working very well.  He was also taking forever because he pumps people’s boats out for them and then comes over to the pump out station and empties his tank.  It was taking so long that he finally offered to pump us out for free so we wouldn’t have to keep waiting for him to finish.  That was nice of him.

So, we fired everything up and got ready for our fight with the wind and current again.  We had to turn the boat around and go into a slip that was behind and to the left.  We got the boat turned and then let it blow us down the channel until we were lined up with the slip.  I unfortunately waited a little too long to go forward so in stead of going straight in we went in at a bit of an angle.  No damage to anything, but it sure was not pretty.

We are not in the same slip we were in before and this one is a bit shorter.  In order for us to get off the boat our bow sprint hung over the dock so we could get the swim step in far enough to step onto the dock.  It is definately not ideal.  Also, the power is not right for us so we had to borrow an adapter from our friend Brian who lives on his boat here in the marina.  I met him and his wife the last time we were here.

They gave us some real good info on where to go in the Delta.  He drives the Horn Blower Ferry on an on-call basis.  He is quite the boats man.

SUNDAY, 7 JULY, SAUSALITO, CA

The fog wants to come in this morning.  I always loved the way the fingers of fog would come over the ridge and down the valley toward the bay.

This is a run errands and do laundry day.  I wanted to get some yarn to make Emi and Hunter a blanket; so we drove over to JoAnns
Riot is trying to clean up our power cable that is very dirty and scuffs up our deck whenever we use it.so we went to Harbor Freights;
We went by the bank for cash;
We went over to Ag’s and did our laundry and finally, went to the grocery store
We came back to the boat and discovered a friend hanging out on the dock.  We think it is Sammy whom we have seen hanging around us in the water everyday, several times a day.

We took naps and then Rob drove the truck over to Tony’s house in San Rafael.  Together they washed the truck and then they washed Holly’s Porsche.  After that, Rob rode his bike back to the boat here in Sausalito.
While they were doing all that, I built the blanket.  I bought 4 skeins of yarn and used them all, but I am going to need a couple more skeins. Its always something.

SATURDAY, 6 JULY; SAUSALITO

We slept in a bit which was nice then chillaxed with our coffee. The fog was trying to sneak in, but the sun chased it away.

Sarah, Noel and Liam (Rob’s sister, brother-in-law and nephew) arrived about 10 ish.

It was quite lovely by that time so we went out for a cruise around Angel Island

We were going to cruise over to and along San Francisco, but it was pretty choppy and windy. In fact, they were having a sail boat race out there from the Sausalito Yacht Club

So, we headed back to our dock for some lunch.

Later we took the dinghy out and tied up at the Sausalito Yacht club dock to walk over and get some ice cream.  They told us we were welcome to hang out there, but could not leave the dinghy there unattended.  So Bella and I stayed there while they all went for ice cream.  It was nice hanging out there.  The race was over so I got to watch the various sailboats come back and all the racers come in.  They had egg rolls and rum punch for all the racers.  They also had a band that was getting ready to play.  They told us we were welcome to stay, but Rob wanted to go back to our boat so we left.
We hung out on the boat for a while and then walked in to town and had dinner

It was a beautiful sunset tonight

FRIDAY, 5 JULY ; SAUSALITO, CA

Tony. Holly and Blooms spent the night;  Funny, Blooms slept up in the fly bridge. They closed it all up for him and he apparently slept quite well up there.

Tony and Holly packed up and left fairly early, but Blooms stayed and went for a nice paddle.  It is so calm in the mornings.  The water is often like glass which to me seems odd since it’s a Bay with currents and tides and everything.

Later Blooms and Rob went for a bike ride. They did some awesome exploring.

Here in the Marina they checked out the awesome Sports Utility Yacht , 105’ from Georgetown, Cayman Islands; CID is its name.

They continued on to the Marin Headlands…

And then they went over to the float plane port to check it out.

After Blooms left we chilled for a bit and then Rob went over to Jim and Dana’s for dinner.  I was invited as well, but I was beat;  so many days with so many people I was ready for a break.  Plus, there were a couple things I really wanted to do.
First, I took everything out of the refrigerator and re organized it.  It is a very small refrigerator and I no longer had any idea what was in it or where anything was.  Now I do.
The next thing I did was go through my stuff in the bunk/storage room.  We are going to go back to Pahrump for a couple days in a couple weeks and I know there is stuff that I do not need here on the boat, so I wanted to get that all collected and organized.
I feel much better for accomplishing those to things.
I had just settled down to watch some TV when Rob called and said he was almost here.  So, Bella and I went up to let him through the gate.
He had a nice evening with Jim and Dana.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY EVERY ONE. OUR INDEPENDENCE DAY!

I woke up early;  everyone else on the boat were lazioids.  So, Bella and I went for a nice walk.

Bloomie texted me, he was up early as well.  Tony, Holly, Rob, Bloomie and I will all spend the 4th celebrating together.

Blooms arrived around 7:30.  Sausalito is have a 4th of July parade so we decided to walk over and check it out.  None of us could even remember the last time we even went to a 4th of July parade.  We used to always have the golf cart parades at the ranch.  They were always fun.  People went all out to decorate their golf carts.

We walked to town and found our spot on the street.  Holly immediately went off and went shopping.  She came back a little while later with a new sun dress.

The parade finally started with the Sausalito Fire Department and Police Dept.

Then the Mayor and the former mayor

And some other officials.

Cal’s marching band went by which was awesome.

Some senior center dancing groups went by, a couple high school stuff and a couple floats.  then it started to get hot so we decided to head over to PIVOTAL Helex.

Rob and I registered to do a simulator demonstration.
Rob did it first and I decided I didn’t want to do it so I let Tony do it in my stead.  Im glad I did, because Rob said he was a bit nauseated after doing it.
It’s an odd thing.  You land vertically, practically straight up and down.  The thing has been flying all around us and the funny thing is that it has an actual helicopter following it all around.  Not sure if that is a safety thing, or a promotional deal or what.
At any rate, we went back to the boat to continue our 4th of July activities which consisted of…..paddle boarding, dinghy rides, watching the water activities, eating and consuming adult beverages.
There are some very cool boats here in Sausalito gathering for the festivities.

And of course Us….

Have you ever seen an Airstream RV with a slide out?

It got warmer and warmer, so of course we had to go in the water

And we had to go check out other things that were in the water

The evening and sunset was beautiful….

The fireworks were awesome, but not really able to get good pictures of them
