Tuesday; 11 July Truckee to Reno

We got up early, said our Good byes to Jennifer and drove to Incline.  The real reason we are in Tahoe is to get our physicals.  Rob has to get a flight physical every 6 months and he likes his second one (July) to be with our Dr. Koch and so I always get my annual with her as well.  I had done my blood work in Fresno so that she would already have the results, but Rob had been on a trip and was not able to get his done early.  He had to fast, so we are getting to Incline early so he can get his blood drawn.
After the lab we went to Starbucks for coffee and a scone.  Our appointments are not until 10:00 so it is a nice place to hang.  They have an outdoor patio and it is a busy intersection.
Bella and I walked over to Pet Station which is in the Raley's shopping center.  Bella was eating some food at Jennifer's which she really liked so I wanted to get some.  Jen said Pet Station carried it.  Also, Jen puts a blinking light on Leila when she takes her out at night and I wanted to get a couple for Bella.  When I take her out right before we go to bed I often can't see her.  It is a little unnerving.  They had the lights, but were out of the food that she liked.  Oh well, just as well since we are flying.  I will order it on line.
We went to our appointment and all is well with both of us.  Yippee. Next we went to breakfast in Kings Beach.  Yummy breakfast at the Log Cabin.
We came back to Incline and went to the Vet.  Dr. Lane sold his business, but Justin still works there as a Tech. We got Bella's toe nails trimmed.
After that we went up to visit our old house.  When we were here last year they were doing some re-modeling and we wanted to check it out. Last year we looked in the windows and saw they were moving the stairs; they had removed the garden window in the kitchen, they had added windows in the living room and had added a sliding door to our upstairs master bedroom and had removed the sliding door from the downstairs.
This year when we went by, hoping the owners would be home and would let us look, there were contractors there.  We told them we used to own the house and could we see what they were doing.  He said sure.  Go ahead. OH My GOD! They gutted it!  I can't even recognize anything in it except the door leading to the upstairs master bath.  In fact, that is the only thing that is not changed.
They have enclosed the front deck entrance.
This was our living room.  The ceiling, ceiling fan, and sliding door are the only things that are the same.

They completely took out the entire kitchen and cabinets running down the right side above, removed the fireplace, added the windows on the left.  Where the drywall is leaning on the right used to be where the stairway was, but they moved it so the floor is all filled in and it just opens up to what was the dining room.
It seems as though they have taken the three bedrooms and hallway bathroom upstairs and are turning them into two master suites and a laundry room.
The new stairway is where the entry closets on the left and part of the kitchen where the ovens were, I think.  I can't even figure out what they are doing down stairs.  It is totally different, although the gas fireplace is still there.
They re-panneled the entire outside of the house. All the grass is dead and they removed the entire fence and both gates.
The whole thing is very disturbing to see a home that you lived in and loved for 15 years completely gutted like that.  They must be spending a fortune and no wonder they low-balled us on the purchase of it.
They removed the upper and lower decks.
So, after going to the house and being totally blown away we drove up to the meadow to take Bella for a walk.  Even that is different.  They is a wood-plank walkway where you are allowed to go.

We used to go on forever.  Now they are trying to preserve it.  There is actually a loop that you can do, but.....There was so much
snow that all we could do was walk the plank and turn around and walk back.
We drove back to Incline and took Bella on a walk in one of our favorite places next to the soccer field.  There is a 1.5 mile exercise course back there.  You can also let the dogs run free on the soccer field when no games are going on.  We walked the trail, but when we got to the soccer field a big dog (shepherd, about a year or so old) came chasing after Bella so she ran back into the woods.
At 4:00 we went over to Nancy's cabin to have dinner with Brad (Rob's brother) and the Boys.  They are up for the week and the boys are going to a week long baseball camp.
We had a really fun visit.  The boys are growing up fast, as kids amazingly do.

They were really fun and visiting with Brad was a pleasure as well.
He bar-b-qued and we were able to eat outside, which was a treat!
From there we drove down to Reno and checked into a hotel.  We have an early flight back to LA and then to Minneapolis in the morning and wanted to be near the airport.  We pretty much went straight to bed when we got there.
