We worked around here. I worked on the blog and Rob worked on the air filter in the truck.
Then we took Bella for a nice long walk around the base. Rob really wants to go biking so that's why we did the nice long walk for the Boo Dog.
Rob called Dish to get authorization to return all their equipment. The put him on hold for 15 min and finally talked to him and told him they would email the form we needed within the hour.
When we got back from the walk we still hadn't received the email so he called again, and was put on hold for ever again. He finally talked to someone who emailed the form while they were on the phone. We printed them out and included it, plus the original order document, into each of the boxes.
We loaded up and went into Helena. We found Napa car parts and the UPS stop in the same center. I went to UPS while Rob went to Napa. $92. to send the shysters their equipment back.
Rob needed cleaner and some sort of oil for the air filter.
Next we went to Costco and bought all sorts of fine things.
From there we finally found the bike shop open. We talked to the guy about the best trails in the area and purchased a map.
Then we went home.
Rob messed with the air filter, I put stuff away and gave Bella a couple of treats.
At 3:30 we finally loaded the truck up with the bike gear and headed out.
Have I ever told you how I totally lose momentum and motivation to do anything as the day wears on?! It is a true story. When I was in the Army we did our PT (physical training) at 5:00 in the morning. this was perfect, partially because I only woke up a boy half way through, and because it was out of the way before I even had my coffee. I have always been a "let's get to it in the morning" kind of person. Every now and then I have pent up energy, or am really antsy and need to do something to get rid of it. at those times I need to go for a run or work out in the late afternoon, or cool of the eventing.
But, to go mountain biking in a new area, on a new trail, in the late afternoon where it is threatening to rain, getting cold and possibly going to get dark is a tad uncomfortable for me. But, that is exactly what we did. He started riding at 4:11 pm
We rode up a dirt road for about 4 miles and then hit the Helena Mountain Ridge Trail.
We went up, up, up and finally got to the ridge. The views were pretty awesome.
I wasn't especially crazy about the trail. It was really rocky. That's ok, but these were sharp rocks. The whole time I knew I was going to biff and get cut up on the rocks. Luckily that never happened. Actually, I did biff once, but it was on a hair pin turn with a steep up hill. I didn't get cut up, but I hit my elbow on exactly the same spot that I hit yesterday. I was walking to that mine and my ankle turned and I fell and landed on my left knee and right elbow. It smarted.
Anyway, back to the ride. I think the fact it was late in the day, it was cold and I felt as if we were going to get rained on at any second made me a bit more nervous than usual, but it was still pretty cool.
We rode 12.29 miles and we got back to the car at just about 6 pm.
For my reward for being such a good sport and going on the ride late in the afternoon, we went to the wine bar. I had a flight of three Malbecs from Argentina. Rob had a beer and we shared an order of Johnny cracked corn which is like a bridge mix of pretzels, nuts, and popcorn, but its caramelized with some sort of chili or something a little hot. It was good. We also shared a plate of meats and some crackers. It was nice and relaxing. They have so many wines that I would have been overwhelmed if they didn't have the flight selections.
We came home and I grabbed some Chicken Tortilla Soup to heat up and jumped in the shower. I was really cold.
We watched a little NCIS, while we ate. I have really missed watching NCIS, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med.
Oh well.
After dinner we played Wii Golf. I'm terrible at it!!!
