Saturday, 1 October, Costa Rica to LAX

We got up to clear blue skies again.  It was lovely.  The ocean was a pretty blue as well.  We sat around the room enjoying our coffee for awhile.  Rob thoroughly enjoyed the robe they provided. Except, he felt it was a little small.
We finally got dressed and went down to breakfast.  It was so nice when we walked in.  We were greeted by the hostess and then the waitress we had yesterday greeted us with "Buenos Dias Mr and Mrs Williamson"  wow, very sweet.
Again we had a delicious breakfast.  The rest of the crew came in.  I guess we missed the memo about all meeting for breakfast at 9:45.  But, they sat at the table next to us just as we were finishing up.  We chatted with them for a bit.
We went back to our room and changed into bathing suits and headed out to the beach.  We went for a walk along the beach and rocks until we would die from the heat and humidity and then turned back to the hotel.  We did stop for a dip in the ocean and then went back to the beautiful pool.
This is where we spent the rest of the morning.

Unfortunately our fun had to end.  We went back to the room to pack and get ready for our ride back to the airport.  I have to get there about 30 min earlier than everyone else so Rob and I are taking a separate shuttle.
My only disappointment on this whole trip, so far, is that I haven't seen any monkeys.  They have three breeds of monkeys here.  Spider, white face and howlers.  Perhaps I will see some on the ride back to the airport!
We were picked up at 1:00 by a really nice man that Alaska Crew members have gotten to know and who call on him for amazing tours.
I had to be at the airport and all checked in, ready to go, 60 min prior to the flight or I would not be allowed to get on the flight.  That included passport check, paying the departure tax, getting a security document and getting through security to the gate.  So, for that reason Rob and I went to the airport 45 minutes earlier than the rest of the flight crew.
As it turned out, the whole check in process only took about 20 min and I did not have to pay the departure tax.  So, we were there already to go for a 4pm departure at 2:45.  We got something to eat and waited for the rest of the crew and the flight.
I was assigned a seat and waited for my turn to board.  I was in row 17, an exit row, by the window.  While waiting for everyone to board an Alaska employee with a reflective vest came to me and asked for my name.  I thought great, is there some reason I am not going to be allowed to go on this flight?! He asked if I was the Captain's wife and I said yes, and then he told me I had been upgraded and to grab my stuff.  So, he moved me up to first class.  Nice.  Corin was the flight attendant up there.  Judy helped her as well.  They are both very sweet to everyone.  Judy also helped Laura and Chet out in the back of the aircraft as well, and they were also really nice.
The flight was fine.  It was a little bouncy here and there, but mostly just fine. It went by rather quickly.
We landed and then got on a bus to go through Customs and Immigration and then we were done.
We caught the bus to the East Employee parking lot and found the car, then drove to the Teton and basically went directly to bed.
