We finally got everything together and hooked up. I brought all the slides in and then realized I hadn't grabbed the garbage. I started to put the kitchen slide out and it made a weird noise so I brought it back in.
As we were getting ready to go Rob wanted to grab something to eat. He started to put the Kitchen slide out, but it wouldn't go. It was tightly in at the top, but out about an inch to inch and a half at the bottom. Shoot. We couldn't get it to do anything.
We said our good-byes to everyone and hit the road. It wasn't a bad drive. We figured it would take us about 7 hours. We were on the road at 9:30.
There are some really steep hills from Los Barriles up; Those two yellow parts that you see above and below the 5 hr 51 min sign are construction zones. The bridges are being rebuilt so we have to go off the paved road onto dirt roads, down into the arroyos and up the other side and then back onto the paved road. Sometimes we have to stay on paved road for several miles through a couple of arroyos. It is super bumpy and dirty and that is where we often suffer damage to the inside of the rig. Perhaps not actual damage, but definitely stuff bumped out of place.
The drive was actually somewhat pretty. And, unlike when we were coming down, the pretty stuff was on my side so I got to take pictures.
We got into Loretto and our RV park at about 4:00 It was a bit of a challenge to get into our spot. We squeezed in between Pam and Bob and Lori and John. The guy actually came by and cut a couple branches off the tree so that our slides would fit.
We could not get our kitchen slide to come out at all. Not with the motor, not with the manual crank, not with anything. Plus, it was super hot inside the Rig. The guys worked on it for a bit and then we all just gave up and went to dinner.
We, the six of us, went to a crazy place down on the melecon (the beach road). It was called Oasis Hotel. The restaurant was on the beach. They had some special event going on with a buffet with oysters, clams, chicken and ribs. They also had a live band which made it very noisy. It was dark and very difficult to see our food. It was all good, but for our reunion we decided to go to another bar for one more round where it was a bit quieter and we could catch up. We went to a little place called Augie's. It was fun.
We returned to the park and went to bed.
