Tuesday, 31 Jan, Los Barriles to Todos Santos.

John, Lori, Tucker & Molly are moving on.  Their plan is to move over to Todos Santos for a couple days and then on to La Paz for a couple days and the up to Loretto.
Chuck and Laurie are driving over to Todos Santos and we are going as well. Chuck and Laurie are staying in a hotel for two nights then coming back.  They are staying out at Playa Norte (here in Los Barriles) until the end of the month.
Rob and I haven't decided if we are just going to Todos Santos for the day or if we are going to spend the night.
John and Lori went the Toll road route, down to SJDC and over to the coast then north.  It is supposed to be a smoother road for the RV
Chuck, Laurie, Rob and I drove up toward La Paz, over and then south into Todos Santos.  It is a quicker route, a bit windier perhaps.
The 4 of us stopped in a cool little town called El Triunfo.  It is an old gold and silver mining town.
They have some really cute buildings in the town

and in particular is a restaurant bakery!
But as we went into it we continued on through it and out into the ruins behind it.  Out there were the remains of the old smelting plant.  Brick walls and foundations and bridges and the smoke stacks.  One of the smoke stacks was designed, again, by Eiffel.

There were the remnants of this heavy machinery as well

We found out later that they are going to restore it all.  That would be awesome.
We went back to the restaurant to have breakfast.
This is the back of the restaurant and someone is actually hand chiseling all this stone into blocks
 The pizza oven
 Another view inside.
Rob took these pictures so we could order from them. Unfortunately, by the time we ordered all the blueberry scones were gone.  We did have on of those apple pies  Yummy
We also had one of the berry strudels and a loaf of the cranberry, walnut, sourdough loaf.
It was a darling place.
From there we went on to Todos Santos.
We found the hotel that Chuck and Lori were going to stay in and waited while they got checked in.  It's a funny place.  More about it later.
We checked out a couple of "RV Parks" which turned out to be impossible.  Actually, one of them we probably could have gotten out 5th wheel into onto the beach, since we have 4 wheel drive, and Chuck and Laurie could have gotten their little Scamp into, but there was no way that John and Lori could take their Class A into it. Not without getting totally stuck in the sand that is.
We finally found John and Lori.  They had disconnected their car from their motor home and were checking things out in the car.
We finally found them a place to park for the night.  Lori and John had had a horrible day and they decided to eat in for dinner and stay put.
Chuck, Rob, Laurie and I went back to the hotel.  Rob and I decided to stay for two nights.
