Veronica came back from her bike ride with her training group. She is so cute and a bundle of energy. She said her coach told her she needed something different on her bike because she works real hard and is strong but cannot keep up with her group. Rob and CJ were trying to figure out what it was her coach was telling her.
She showered and then Rob, Barb (also goes by BJ), CJ, Veronica, and I all went to this cool mall that has a restaurant above one of the stores. We had a nice breakfast and then wandered around in the store for a little bit. It was a furniture store.
From there we went down to the oldest part of Mazatlan and to the old original mercado. We wandered around in it for a few minutes, but I think we are all over the souvenir trinkets. We did go across the street to the beautiful old cathedral. It was beautiful. I would have taken pictures, but there was a wedding going on and it was during the communion portion of the ceremony. We waited and watched until all the final blessings and their announcement of their being husband and wife. Then we left and came back to the house.
Rob and I were really tired and sleepy and decided we were going to go back to our apartment and take a nap.
We got back here, but neither one of us could sleep, so we decided to go walk down the beach and check out the big hotel next door "Hotel RIU" I wanted to see the lobby and pool and see if they had any shops. There were no shops, the lobby was nothing special and the pool was super crowded. So, we went back to our beach. We went for a quick swim and then sat in the shade in lounge chairs. Rob read his book and I practiced my Spanish.
On the grounds of this resort they are setting up for a wedding reception with tables, chairs and a big stage for a band. Right over the fence, about 30 yards away, the hotel next door is also setting up for a big wedding reception with a large number of tables and chairs and a big stage for a band. The two bands are setting up only about 30 yards from each other with a wall too short to separate them between them. It will be an interesting night. As we were headed back to our apartment people were beginning to arrive for the reception on our property.
This is the apartment we are staying in.
This is a house that we walk by everyday to and from our apartment. I think the stairway is really pretty.
So, we showered and dressed and walked back over to their house. We CJ, BJ, Rob, Veronica and I went out to dinner to a nice Italian Restaurant. It was delicious. I had Lasagna and it was delicious. I had to bring half of it home because we had yummy bread and a huge Cesar salad before the entrée arrived. Rob had Salmon and had to bring half of it home as well.
We returned to the house and Rob and I head straight to our apartment. We were very tired.
There was a pretty sunset.
Both bands were going when we got back, but once inside the apartment we didn't hear them so much. One of them ended right when we got back, but the other went on for a bit.
There were cars parked on the street when we got to the apartment, but they seemed to just be making out rather than playing loud music and partying.
But, during the night various cars kept coming to park under our apartment. The would open their doors, play their music really loud, drink and through their cans and bottles out on the sidewalk. I was awakened at 1:00 am, 2:30 am and then again at 5:00 am. I couldn't believe it.
Tomorrow is a big day for CJ and the family.
