MONUMENT VALLEY TO MOAB

Monday, 15 June
To day was a fun and pretty full day.
We enjoyed our morning coffee sitting outside as usual and then packed up and hit the road. We were on the road bu 9 am
We drove about 25 miles to the town of Mexican hat (named for the hoodoo there.
And found a place to park and leave the truck and rig.  Rob climbed into the Jeep with me and we drove off onto a dirty road and into
It was 17 miles long with some amazing views
The road was pretty rough in some areas

We were glad we were in the Jeep rather than in my car

There were some pretty amazing views

We completed the drive and ended back on the highway and then back to Mexican Hat to pick up the truck and rig.
We continued on our journey to Moab.
It took us about three hours and we arrived about 1pm
We quickly set everything up and I fixed us ham sandwiches for lunch. Then we drove into town to check things out m
We went to a bike shop where Rob was able to get a new helmet.  We were required to wash our hands and dawn face masks before entering the store.  Next we went to Moab Brewery and Rob was able to get some IPAs for later.
We drove out and followed the Colorado River and decided it would be pretty fun to paddle board. We figured out where we might put them in and then take them out.
Next we drove out to Sand Flats recreation area.  That is where they do a lot of Jeeping, moto cross and mountain biking. Slick Rock is out there which is a pretty amazing mountain biking trail.  We have done it in years past and hope to do it again.
On the way back into town I realized we didn’t have Bella’s life vest with us. If we are going to paddle board the Colorado she needs a vest, so we found an outdoor gear shop and got her one.
We wanted to do a hike, but it was still 98 degrees out, so we decided to go back to Moab brewery, have an early dinner and then go on the hike afterward.
And that is what we did.
We did the Mill Creek hike. There are a couple of waterfalls and pools and it is a favorite of the locals on a hot day. It was hot, and it was a fun hike.

We found a spot where we could get in the creek, where it was sandy.  It slowed down into a deeper pool. I picked Bella up and set her down into the water where it was sloping so that her belly was in the water.  She liked it.  It cooled her off and energized her.  After that we walked in the water for a bit.  She liked that as well

We continued walking in the water, and along the water and through the rocky canyon.  It was beautiful. We came upon one of the waterfalls and Rob decided to climb up it. He’s goofy that way

Once he was up there he discovered there was a trail that led up to the top of it.  Bella and I took the trail.
We continued on for a bit and then decided it was time to head back
We hiked back to the Jeep and drove on back to the RV Park. We sat outside with a couple beers until it was time for bed
