Sunday, 21 June; Edwards to Denver

HAPPY FATHER’s DAY!
We got up fairly early. Jim and Sharon wanted to leave by 7:30. They are flying from Edwards to Denver there they will fuel up.  They need to be out of Denver before it warms up to 80 degrees or they will have problems getting over the mountains.
After they left we changed sheets, did laundry and repacked the RV for travel.  We played a couple games of pool while waiting for the laundry.
We finally locked up and hit the road around 11.
When I started up the Jeep I had all kinds of lights on the dash. Anti traction warning, ESP/BAS which has something to do with the brake system and low tire pressure. The driver’s front tire seems to have a slow leak. Good thing we have a compressor with us.  We actually have it to let air out of the tires to soften them up when off-roading, and then fill them back up for the highway.  Anyway, we got the tire sorted out, but not the lights.  We have an appointment for the truck in one place in Denver for Monday, and then at another place for the Jeep on Tuesday.
It was a gorgeous drive through Copper Mountain and Vail.

There is a giant hill leading up to the Eisenhower Tunnel.  Naturally the truck started overheating so we had to pull over and Let it cool down. We were actually almost at the tunnel.

After the tunnel, traffic was slow all the way into Denver. Yuk!
Still pretty though.
We arrived at Cherry Creek State Park at about 3:30. We found our spot and set up.  It’s a nice spot with a great big oak tree.
We got everything set up, inside and out and then headed over to Erik and Laura’s house.  It’s a lovely place with a beautiful flower and fruit tree garden in the front and veggies and nice patio in the back.
Adria was there.  She is my grate niece and is about 2 1/2. She’s a little cutie. Erik fixed us Manhattans, which I’d never had before. Quite yummy!
We face timed with Barbara which is a nightly “Happy Hour” event.  Rob and I will go visit her tomorrow.
Whitney and Obie arrived Whitney is my Niece. Such a nice surprise. They own the Preservery Restaurant in Denver. It’s been a struggle for them with the pandemic and shutdown. They were able to stay afloat with take out orders and help from friends and family. Now they are back open, but only at 30%. Things are starting to pick up for them.
We had a wonderful Tri Tip dinner with potatoes, salad and home made bread.
We had a wonderful visit with all of them and returned to our abode around 9.
