I cannot believe it. I awoke to blue skies and sunshine. I have not seen that for a very long time. What a lovely day! I just really didn't want to waste the day. As it turned out, it was a bit of a waste. As I got closer to Cleveland the skies clouded over. It was hot and somewhat humid. But, we took advantage anyway.
The road to Cleveland takes you down by the water where the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame is. It is nice down there. It is right on the water and there is a big park area. I wanted to check out the city and then head down there.
Mistake! There is apparently an airshow or some big event going on down there. Traffic is horrible and there are tons of people walking toward the water. If I were to find a place to park there would be so man people that it would not be fun for Bella. So, as soon as possible I got off that street and headed in a different direction. I was hoping maybe there would be another park down by the water.
In the mean time I took some pictures. These were actually on the way in to town.
I found Historic Downtown and then I found a little piece of heaven called "The Flats". It is on the river coming off the lake, or perhaps it's just a canal. I don't really know. But, there were tons of restaurants right on the water and the water was busy with boats, kayaks, paddle boards and jet skis. It is apparently a "No Wake Zone" so it is peaceful. That is what I like.
We wandered around a bit. All along the water there are places to tie up so if you are boating you can come up on shore a enjoy a bite or a drink.
I came across Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville and had to go in and check it out. It is cute. They had big screens all over playing Jimmy Buffet concerts.
They also had a fun gift shop. They have a nice, colorful patio...
But, they had no room. Besides, it wasn't on the water, so I moved on.
I went to a place called Alley Cat Oyster Bar and had lunch. I had a cup of clam chowder, which wasn't very clammy. I also had a nice wedge salad with shrimp (small fried shrimp?!) It was good, and a so so margarita. It was pleasant but expensive.
Afterward we walked around a little bit more and then went back to Margaritaville. I had to make a purchase.
It isn't quite so cute here, but it will be cute back at the Ranch or in the Teton!!
After that we headed home. It was definitely overcast and they were expecting rain later.
By the time we got home the park, as expected, was empty. Everyone who had come for the holiday weekend had left and there were only the original few of us remaining. Unfortunately, it was high overcast again.
We found a new series on Netflix and settled in for the evening. I didn't accomplish anything constructive craft wise. A storm moved in a boy was it a doozy. Big loud cracks of thunder that made both Bella and I jump several times and lightning flashing all around us. The storm was literally all around us and very close by. It went on for several hours. The rain would beat down for a minute or so then lighten up then quit, then come again.
We went to be around 10 and it was still going on with big flashes of lightning, thunder and heavy then light rain. Sometime in the wee hours it quit.
