I had packed up quite a bit last night before going to bed. We even took Bella's fence down last night. Even with all of the though it was still almost 10 before we got on the road.
Our plan is to do a little sight seeing along the way, if that's possible with the rig. At the same time, it is already a 4.5 hour drive and the Raiders are playing at 4:05. If we drove straight through it would be 2:30 when we arrived, so our stops would put us there later. But, this is beautiful country.
And beautiful it is. We had about 2 or 3 cold days and cold nights before it warmed up again so the leaves did get hit with a little bit of cold and are just starting to turn.
We got on Highway 3 and went for it. It is the Adirondack trial.
As you can see, I just followed Rob and took pictures as I went.
I am definitely drawn to old churches
I only took this one because it said Adirondack, not because of the INN
This was only for a reference as to where we were.
This was coming into the town of Saranac Lake where we stopped and walked around a bit.
It is a pretty little town with parks, the lake and a river running through it.
As you can see, it is a really cute little town.
We ran into a gal who was also traveling around via RV and now have settled here in the summers and Florida for the winters. They love it here. She said it really, really gets cold in the winters here though.
We got back in our vehicles and headed out.
Lake Placid is just down the road.
We went through it, but did not stop.
We drove through several more cute little towns, but eventually I had to start paying attention. Rob wanted me to go ahead and check us in, then research places to watch the game if we couldn't get it in our rig.
I did take more pictures, but didn't pay as much attention to what or where I was.
We finally got to our campground, North Beach Campground and got our spot. It was really packed and we had to have our neighbors move their tent so that we could get in around the trees. They were encroaching abit. They were friendly tho.
We got it and got set up and tried to find the game on antenna TV, but no luck. I did find it on our devise, but it kept buffering. So, at halftime we went into downtown Burlington, VT. It is a big town and very cool. It is located on Lake Champlain and there is a big waterfront area. In fact, they are having a concert tonight at the waterfront which is one of the reasons that our campground is so packed. There was a lot of drinking, pot smoking and partying going on back home.
Church street is blocked off to autos. It is pedestrians only. There are a lot of restaurants with patio dining and cool stores and stuff down there.
First we found one pizza place that had the game but it was ceiling fans only and was really hot. So we wandered down a bit further and found Alec's Place. It was air-conditioned and they had several games on. They also bought a couple extra large pizzas that they put out for people to enjoy. It was a great little place.
Ashley was behind the bar and very friendly. She is a 6th grade teacher, but they are on strike. They went on strike last Thursday and she said it will go on definitely Monday and Tuesday as well. The union talked about striking for a while so she went ahead and got this second job and was tucking the money away just in case. She works Sundays and Wednesdays. She likes it, but really wants to get back in the classroom. She was really sweet.
The place was not packed, but there were several people in there. We enjoyed the game, especially since the Raiders kicked the New York Jet's butts. It was 46 to 20 or something. Yippee!!! The Seahawks were also playing against the 49ers and that game was on as well. It was tied up 6 to 6 through the 3 quarter. They are really having to fight this year. Rob keeps saying Russell Wilson (their quarter back) is going to get hurt because he keeps running with the ball, but he has to because his team is not protecting him worth a darn. They lost last Sunday, which was very sad, but they were fighting hard tonight. I was watching both games, the Raiders and Seahawks and started paying more attention to the Seahawks since they were needing more support at the moment than the Raiders. The Raiders game ended before the hawks game and so for the last 10 minutes of the 4th quarter we paid attention and rooted for the Seahawks. It paid off. They won their game as well.
We walked around down along Church street for a little while to check it out. It was all lit up pretty.
And then we went back to the rig. We went to bed and read for awhile.
