Newport RI

This was Cat's favorite house, I like it too.

This is the place we had lunch, it was pretty crowded, not enough lobster though, there is never enough lobster.
This house had some great gingerbread work.

Mystic, CT

Congratulations!!! Rob retired from the Air Force today after 23 years! He is happy and he retired as a Lt. Col.

Today has been a busy day. We checked out our surrounding in the Seaport RV park. We were going to ride our bikes down to the cute little town of Mystic but it was a bit rainy so we drove. We drove down to the old town of Mystic, drove by the Mystic Sea Port and then on down to Noank. It is further down the point from Mystic. We drove around checking the place out. We stopped in at a little bakery and at a local market. Then we went to a place called Abbots, Lobster in the Rough. It is only open on Friday, Sat and Sundays from 12 to 7pm. We were there when it opened and there were a lot of people and they continued to come. Rob had a whole lobster which came with a little cup of coleslaw and a bag of potato chips. I had lobster on a roll. It was all the good meat on a hamburger type roll drizzled with melted butter. It was yummy. Rob was disappointed in his.

From there we decided to drive over to Newport, RI. It is a tight little town and since we will be pulling the Seville tomorrow we decided to go check it out today. We drove around, found St Mary’s church where John F and Jacqueline Kennedy were married. We found the cute row that has all the restaurants and shops (including the place Mom and I ate when we were here, and then we went and walked the “Cliff Walk” It is a 3 mile walk along the sea. It is where all the rich and famous have their summer “cottages”. One in particular is “The Breakers” the Vanderbilt’s summer cottage. Mom and I went through it when we came out here. It is amazing. The Salve Regina University is down there and it is absolutely beautiful. It is a Catholic Coed University of the Arts and Sciences.

After our (6mile) walk we drove back to the Mystic area for dinner. We went down to Stonington point and had dinner at Skipper’s Dock. Their specialty is scallops. It was a bit disappointing as well. Both places we ate at today were recommended by the gal at the desk here in the RV Park. So much for her recommendations.

Tomorrow we will go back to Mystic. Rob is going to go through the Sea Port and I am going to go to the cool little shopping area and do a little shopping for Christmas.

We went back to our abode and chilled.
