Lake of the Ozarks, Linn creek, MO

Current temp 60°

Boy oh boy oh boy. When this place has a storm it has a serious storm. We had rolling, rumbling, thunder and lightning that lit up the room. The rain seriously beat down on us. It was impossible to sleep through with our aluminum siding and roof. But it was also pretty awesome. Needless to say, we were up by 6:30.

Problems, problems, problems. We are having trouble with the front jacks, as in they don’t want to work anymore. When we get to a site and unhook the truck the front end is generally too high. The unit needs to be level not only to prevent seasickness while inside (I get very seasick when I move around inside an unleveled rig) but also it is bad for the refrigerator. Sooo since it is usually too high we have to lower it. We have been fighting to get it back up to the level of hooking it up to the truck. This morning we had to manually crank it (this is not an easy task). We have had the jacks looked at because they were making a weird grinding noise, but we were told they were fine. I DON’T THINK SO! So now we are going to have to have them worked on.

At any rate we were all packed up and hooked up by 8:30. I called Crossroads and told them about our jacks. They gave me the names of 3 of their service reps. We called around and have an apt for 8 am in Troy which is just outside of Dayton. I also made reservations at Wright-Patterson AFB for an RV site tonight. If we have to stay without the RV hopefully they will have room there on the base.

We stopped in Indiana for fuel. I drove 200+ miles on half a tank and got 10.7 mpg. Rob got 9.9 mpg on the last one and that was even driving without the Seville. He is trying again on this tank to beat me. We’ll see.

We finally arrived at Wright-Patterson Family Camp at 8:30. Dark and rainy but not exhausted. We set up quickly without unhooking the truck. There is always something though. Another lesson learned. We always take the coffee pot and put it in the sink wrapped in a towel. This time during the ride the coffee maker turned upside down and dumped the filter with the grounds on the floor. Yuk, big mess of grounds on the carpet. Cleaned it up as much as possible, but will have to wait until it is dry to vacuum it up.

We both played on our computers and chased a fly (from Texas) around (no luck killing it though (I killed it)) then went to bed. Have to get up early to take the rig in. Current temp here in the Dayton, Ohio area is 62° and drizzly
