Sunday 12 June Whaler's Rest, South Beach OregonI I

Rob left at 5 am.  As I lay there I remembered my wallet was still in the car.  I jumped up and could only find my zip up sweatshirt. I screamed his name (luckily her heard me) and ran out, bare ass naked (literally hanging out under my sweatshirt) and said "my wallet's under the seat", then "i don't have any clothes on".  I ran back inside to find some clothes.  Rob came and handed me my wallet and a travel mug.  Thank goodness!.
Bella and I went back to bed and remained there until the sun came up.
Yippee, it is sunny and not all foggy and drippy.
I got up drank my coffee and did some Pivot work.  There is still to much that has to be done.
Next it was laundry time.  Unfortunately the laundry is about a half mile away.  This is going to be an all day thing.
I carried two loads down (I had to retrace my steps to go pick up dropped stuff) and one of the machines ate to many quarters so I didn't have enough for the second load.  I had to walk all the way back, and then back again, just for one quarter.  I thought I had taken more than enough, but nooooooo.
So, I grabbed Bella and we walked to the laundry and beyond
I finally finished all the laundry at about 12:30.  Finished with the exception of putting it away because I truly dislike putting laundry away.
So i loaded Bella in the big ol truck and we headed on down the road.
I really like lighthouses.  My dream would be to visit everyone of them in the US, Canada and wherever else they have them.
We drove about 50 miles south to Heceta Head Lighthouse.  It is the brightest one on the Oregon coast.  First we went past it to a lookout point to take a picture back at it.

This one was looking down from the pull-out at all the Seals on the rocks and in the water
It can be seen for 21 miles. It was built in 1892 along with Housing for the head light keeper, two assistant lightkeeers, and their families, a barn and two kerosene oil houses.  The tower is 56 feet tall.

From the over look we drove back to the park and walked around the beach a bit and then up the trail to the Assistant light keepers house which is now a bed and breakfast.  There is also a gift shop there.  The trail up to there is pretty with nice views.

Today the lighthouse, the assistant keeper's house (which is now a bed and breakfast) and the two oil houses remain.
We continued up the path to the oil houses and the light house itself.  And, more spectacular views.

The light house has the only active British-made Chance Brothers Fresnel lens of its kind in the US.  Its modern 1000, watt quartz bulb produces 2.5 million candle power. It still emits one flash even 10 seconds.  It was awesome going up there and checking it out.

There are a gazillion birds sitting on top of this rock and a whole lotta seals in the water at the bas of it.  It is so pretty from here looking out along the shoreline and out to sea.  This lighthouse is perched 206 feet above the Pacific .

From here Bella and I headed back.  It is already after 4:00.  I pulled over to take one last picture of the bridge crossing over the Alsea Bay

We drove into Newport to find a Grocery store.  We have   been trying to find tomatoes at Farmer's Markets but have not been having any luck so I decided just to get some yucky ones in the store.
We drove bac to the rig and sat outside in the sun for a little while.  It is pretty and sunny, but there is a super breeze and so it is really cool.
Anyway, we had some dinner, watched the sad Sharks lose their final game and any hope of the Stanley cup.  Then watched the extremely intense movie "Saving Private Ryan" and then went to bed.
