Yippee, Yippee, I get to leave today.
I had my coffee while doing a little Pivot work, then got ready to leave.
Years ago, when we first started RV ing, we made a check list to help us remember everything we need to hook up, un hook, turn on, turn off, etc to safely get on or off the road. We have revised it over time, but thank goodness for it.
I went through and secured, disconnected, connected, and then sought the list to verify everything was completed.
Bella is getting much better at it as well. Usually she starts getting so freaked out that I have to put her in the truck for the 20 to 30 min while I'm pulling in slides, hooking up the truck, pulling up jacks, anything that makes noise. This time, I put her on the bed as I pulled in all the slides and hooked up the truck. It wasn't until time to lock up the rig that I finally put her in the truck, and this time she only trembled for the first 15 min on the road before settling down. I'm glad she is getting more used to it.
The drive (4 hours) was pretty. A little hectic as we went from Newport to Hwy 5 via Hwy 20 which is really windy. But each time I got a little nervous about the curves a big 18 wheeler would come by from the opposite direction and I just say, "if he can do it, I can do it". Still, it was far more relaxing when we got onto Hwy 34 and then onto 5.
Rob had been on a 4 day trip which ended late last night. He flew into Portland and arrived a couple hours ahead of me. He had left from Portland so the car was already there.
He went to the RV Park and got us all checked in. He was waiting at the entrance when I arrived and jumped into the truck with me and led us to our spot. Bella was really happy to see him.
After getting it all set up we decided to go for a walk-about.There is a big shopping center across the way from us so we went first to see what was there.
One of the reasons we are here in Portland is because our friends Kate and Joe are here. We met them at the Ranch when they spent the winter there a couple years ago. They have a house here on the Island in the moorage. They are floating houses. They have since moved to Vegas, into a house, but come back here often to house sit for their friends on the moorage to get away from the heat. They are here now. So, we walked over to visit them. This is what we encountered along the way. We thought it was right near us, but it was actually on the other side of the island. I was a nice 30 min. walk.
We had a nice visit with them, but they had dinner plans, but we left. Unfortunately, like a dummy, I did not take any pictures of the floating home where they are staying. These were along our walk back.
He led us to our spot and guided me in as I backed in. After several maneuvering minutes we settled in and set everything up. We actually get to put Bella's fence up which I prefer. She has a doggy door and likes to go and check out the other dogs that are walking by, or just go and hang out in the sun (when we have sun). So I like being able to have it up for her.

We returned to our abode. We grilled some Salmon, sat outside with our little fire and adult beverages and enjoyed the evening until it began to rain in earnest and decided it was time to retire. So we went in and went to bed.
