Sunday, 10 December; Tallahassee, Fl to New Orleans.

Same ole same ole;  We got up, drank some coffee and then packed up.  We were on the road around 9:30. Seems that between 9 and 10 is our normal time to hit the road.
It is going to be another long drive today.
It's funny; I looked up our trip in 2009 and we made this exact trip, Tallahassee to New Orleans at exactly the same time of year, 9, 10 December.  We stayed in New Orleans longer back then though because we had cracked rims and had to have them replaced.  But we stayed in the same place, Pontchartrain Landing.  It has grown like crazy, probably 3 times it's size and people are there somewhat permanently.  It reminds me of Los Barriles in Mexico. Anyway, back to the drive.
We leap frogged along the way.  I would go ahead of Rob and then stop for gas or something and get back on the road and come up on him.  Or, sometimes before I caught him he would pull off and I'd miss him and end up ahead of him again.
Anyway, we stopped at a rest stop in Gautier, Mississippi.  It was just outside of Pascagoula.  Pascagoula reminded me of the Zelenka's.  I wish I could call Matt and find catch up on everyone.  Are his parents still alive, what are his siblings doing, what is he doing, how many children does he have etc. Is he retired at this point or not. But, I cannot do that.
Anyway, we stopped at a rest stop and went for a little walk.  Sadly, while we were in Paris Island and Savanna I did not get any pictures of the trees with all the moss hanging from them.  Luckily here, at the rest stop there was a big Magnolia tree that had moss hanging from it so I did get a picture of it.

There was also this cool tree that had some odd burls growing   on it and one of them looked like a teddy bear.

We got back into our vehicles and drove on.  I got to Pontchartrain first and checked us in and waited for Rob.  He wasn't far behind.
The nice man let him into the spot and we quickly set up.  We went for a walk and tried to decide if we wanted to go down to the French Quarter or not and if so how we wanted to get there.  We had just about decided that we were not going to go when we finally heard from Bloomie.  He and his brother were driving from Berkeley and we thought they were a day behind us and that we were going to miss him.  But, as it turned out, he was here.  So, we got changed and then drove down to meet him.  His brother had recently had open heart surgery to repair and aneurism and they had just returned to New Orleans where he lives.
We picked up Blooms and then drove down to the Garden District.  We ooed and ahhhd at all the pretty Christmas lights and then found a nice restaurant and had a really nice dinner.  Blooms and I split a very nice bottle of wine with dinner and Rob had beer.
From there we drove to the beautiful Column Inn.  It is very old and very pretty and was also decorated.  We sat in the bar lounge and had a night cap and then took Blooms back to his brothers.
We thought maybe we would spend an extra day in New Orleans and hang out with Blooms.
We got back to our abode and went to bed.
