As usual, it is beautiful and sunny here on the Delta.
We are getting all sorts of visitors this morning. It must be the weekend!
Later, while we were sitting around enjoying our coffee when suddenly we heard this loud rumbling. It’s a floatilla…..
We pulled away from the dock at 9:18 we thought it was going to be tricky due to the current, but it was a piece of cake.
We are headed today to Steamboat slough. We are looking for a place to anchor for the night while traveling up to Grand Island Mansion. We are going there for brunch tomorrow and just wanted to check it out.
Right away I gave the controls to Bloomie, but he was a bid nervous
He did help quite a bit along the way though, as did Rob
Going up the river was so peaceful and there were some cool houses along the way.
Bella really gets upset when people (Bloomie and Rob) dive off of the fly bridge!
Actually, she doesn’t like it when people go in the water period.
Again, we had to get bridges opened for us. The first was the Steamboat Slough bridge. We were waiting and wondering and instead of raising up, it twisted. That was the first of that kind we encountered. Speaking of kind, all these bridge tenders are so kind and friendly. they get on it right a way and always wish us a safe voyage.
Everyone is super friendly, especially if you slow down before you get to them so that you don’t wake them out. Several people asked us if we wanted to trade boats. We said, “oh, not today, maybe tomorrow”.
We arrived at and docked at The Grand Island Mansion. Such a beautiful place. Even right down by the water.
The mansion is actually across the street from the the slough. they were having a wedding so we couldn’t go down there, but we were able to see the beautiful grounds from the road.
We are going here tomorrow for brunch. Im really looking forward to it.
We didn’t find anyplace to anchor that was suitable for taking Bella ashore so we decided to go back from whence we came and check in to Oxbow Marina.
We had to go through a couple more bridges

And we passed by our old stomping grounds, the Boat house marina where we spent the past three nights.
Phew; glad to be out of there!
There were still a lot of cool boats anchored along the wayFinally we got to Oxbow. It’s a full on resort with tons of covered slips, a pool, laundry, etc. There are also many many homes (they look like tripple wide mobile homes) on the water with docks.
We first pulled straight into a slip, but it wasn’t long enough for us. Either our bow would be hanging over the dock or the swim step would be out in the water and we wouldn’t be able to get off the dock. so, we had to back out, spin around and then back into the slip stern first. I was truly nervous, but must admit that I did a pretty good job of getting us in there. Willie came out and helped us with lines.
Its’s a really nice place….
And we certainly have moved in….
People keep asking me how rob is enjoying his retirement. I think you should see for yourselves……
It is really, really hot here, so we put all our toys in the water and then put our bodies in our toys and hung out there until the air cooled off.
