SATURDAY1 AUGUST 2020 Anacortes to Gig Harbor, WA

It’s overcast again this morning, in fact we, we had a little rain.  Typical for the Pacific Northwest.
I took Bella down to the for her morning pee walk.  While down there I saw the two Eagles sitting up in the trees. So very cool.  As I was walking back I encounter a woman walking her dog walking toward me.  I signaled to her that two Eagles were up in the trees.  When we encountered each other face to face she told me they have been here since May and have been coming here every year.  They are staying right on the water’s edge.  Funny thing is they live in Warrego Springs (near where we live in Aguanga) when they aren’t here. I told her we live in the TV resort out there.
Anyway, she told me there is a path that starts over by the dumpster and if we take it it turns into a dirt road sort of.  Off of it is a bath that leads into the trees.  She said look for a stick in the ground with an eagle feather sticking out the top and that is where the Eagles’ nest is. Wow, awesome.
We went back to the rig and grabbed Rob. We found the first trail and road, but we took the wrong path off of it.  It led us to an old ruin with fire place still intact, and to the beach, but no post with a feather sticking out.

We went back to the road path and followed it.  It led to the beach at another part of the island.

On the way back I found another small trail and followed it into the woods.  There we found the stick with the feather sticking out.  It was in a small clearing. We seared and looked and looked and searched for that nest. Finally after about ten minutes Rob spotted it.  It was so obvious once we found it.  We looked at it from a couple different angles, but no eaglets were spotted in it.  We think they have grown up and left.
We went back to the rig, had some breakfast and started packing up.  We were on the road by 9:30.
Rob was very concerned about the brakes, so he said he was just going to go slow and put plenty of room between him and any car in front so he could use the truck to stop our RV.
We pulled over once for a potty stop before getting to Seattle.  He figured once we got to Seattle’s traffic it would be really slow and we wouldn’t be able to stop again until we got through it.  Also, my right head light on the Jeep keeps going out.  It has a loose connection and is really ticking Rob off.
It was actually a pretty easy drive through Seattle
And once we got to Tacoma we turned off toward Gig Harbor
The RV Park is pretty nice. The spaces are really large with plenty of room to park the vehicles and to hang out.

The Voses are right next door to us and Darleen/ Richard are across and down two.  It makes it very nice.
Mike was outside when we arrive so he helped direct us in. Rob chatted with him for a bit While I made a dessert for tonight.  Bella and I wanted one go for a bike ride and just as we were getting ready to go Rich and Darleen drove up. Greetings all around.
Rob, Bella and I rode down to the harbor and found Debbie and Bruce and their boat.
Bruce and Debbie’s Morning Lights, 29’ Ranger Tug

We went aboard their boat and checked it out and visited with them. We were really hoping we could live aboard a boat that small, but for a whole year it is just too small. I can see doing it for a couple months at a time like they do, but not to do the Loop for a year or longer.
They shared with us this picture and told us about the people who owned this boat and failed to pay attention to water depth and tides.  Oops!
Always a good idea to check the tides and depth before yo dock for the night!
Richard arrived.  He is here to give Bruce and Debbie a ride to the RV park as we are all have a “fish fry” and dinner together.
We grabbed our bikes and all headed up the dock to the parking lot. Just as I got on my bike and started to pedal a man carrying a child stepped right out in front of me it was a narrow path and I had no where to go I couldn’t unclip my foot so I fell over.  Bella was in the basket so she crashed with me.  She got up, freaked out and started running...toward the street.  Debbie was next to me as I crashed and she went running after Bella and managed to stop traffic just as Bella ran into the street.  Rob was at the street and dropped his bike to go after her.  I yelled as loud as I could not to chase here and headed up on foot.
Bella ran under a parked car and stopped, thank goodness.  Debbie held traffic.  Rob was at the front of the car asking Bella to come to him. And I Finally arrived on the side of the car (Street side) and she came to me. Phew!  We walked back to my bike. One of the straps on her basket broke in the fall but we were able to secure it.  We rode back to the RV Park. Bella was very upset and I was a bit bruised and scraped.
I gave her some chicken (she loves chicken), put her in her bed and put her bed on the couch.  She didn’t feel like socializing.
Bruce, Debbie and Richard arrived. They put their two large, long haired dash hounds in our fenced area with blankets to lay on.  They are big, sweet dogs..Sweet Pea and June Bug!
We went next door and had a lovely evening.  Fresh fish, several salads, watermelon and fruit truffle.
Bruce played guitar and we sang and it was a lot of fun. Nice to be together with our friends.
