Thursday, 6 AUGUST, 2020, Gig Harbor, Wa

Its raining this morning.  We knew it was coming.  I had actually gotten undressed for bed last night and then remembered the rain.  I had to get dressed again and go outside.  I put away the extra chairs, covered the bikes with a tarp and brought the lounge chairs under the awning and then went back to bed.
Rob texted me at 6 am and said he was on the road.  He should be in Pahrump by noon thirty.  I hope he doesn’t have any problems with getting the VIN inspection and the truck registered.  He will fed X the pink slip to Lawrence today and then wants to start back to here tomorrow.  He’s a crazy guy.  He will be very relieved to have it all done tho.
Darleen, Richard, Mike and Marleen all hit the road at 7:30.  They are headed to Bend, Oregon, 235 miles, about 4 hours away.  They are staying there for a week.  We are going there from here as well, but we aren’t leaving until the 16th.
The rain stopped and Bella and I rode down to the harbor.  I totally missed the turn and found myself riding up this steep hill. I kept thinking, “this doesn’t seem right, I don’t recognize this”, then I remembered the intersection that curved off to the left where I went straight.  Turning around to head back down the other direction was quite the challenge with all the traffic.  Finally someone stopped to let me cross.
I want to buy a “Gig Harbor” T-shirt.  We wandered around. But there were no novelty stores.  We walked down to the dock. Bella immediately started hesitating.  She really doesn’t want anything to do with boats. I have to pick her up and carry her down the gang way as it has slits that he can get her toenails caught in.  If n9t for having to pick her up she would probably dig in and refuse to budge.
There was a pretty cool boat down there that looked perfect for the loop.  I talked to the man and he said it was a Taiwan Trawler.  It was 40’. We chatted a bit then we moved on.  Nothing more exciting down there.
They were setting up for a Farmers market, but it wasn’t to open until 1 and it was only 11.  Ugh! What to do for 2 hours.  We sat on a bench for awhile and watched a kid camp.  They were teaching them how to paddle skinny canoes.  The do in kneeling.  They have one foot flat on the bottom and their other knee on a pad. They have to balance and paddle at the same time.  One of the little boys was struggling quite a bit and ended up the drink a time or two.
Bella and I walked again.  There is the most interesting tree growing.  Its branches look sort of like Some that they make leis out of in Hawaii.
But, they are stiff and a bit sharp, not like the soft ones they make the leis out of.

The Farmers market finally opened and after standing in line for 15 min (masked of course) it was my turn to go in. With COVID everything is very organized and directed.  Traffic must flow in one direction and only a certain number of people are allowed in at a time.  There is a person announcing the number of people leaving so the person at the entrance knows how many people to let in. I went through and then departed without making a purchase. Then, I decided I wanted to buy some scones.  I had to wait in line again to go back in. Oh, they also spray your hands with sanitizer when you go in.  I bought the scones and then ducked out.
It took me about 10 tries to unlock the bike lock.  I definitely need a new one.  We rode back to the RV park.
I got a notice from AT&T saying I’d used up all my Hot Spot and my speed was dropping off.  It didn’t drop off, it flat out crashed.  I couldn’t do anything. No email, no face book, no internet, nothing (it is now Monday whileI am writing this).
So all I could do was read.  Good thing I have a good book.
Rob got to Pahrump around noon.  He went to the RV storage to sign up for a spot again starting in Sept.  we will store the Seville there until we leave for Florida in Nov.
Then he went by the house and grabbed the pink slip of the old truck to mail to Lawrence in Montana and a chair.  Why a chair?  From there he went to DMV. No appointments, just wait in line. Chair, book and stacks. He was there for 3 hours.  Mission accomplished though, VIN inspected, truck registered ($1300.) and plates received.
He was able to sleep in our own bed that night.
New neighbors pulled into the spot next to us where Mike and Marleen Vos were.  They have a dog.  They also have a kitty.  I am surprised to see people letting their kitties roam around in a transient RV park.  It is a pretty kitty.

I spent the rest of the day reading.  It clouded up and rained again so that was fine.
