I’m ready to move on. I like Gig Harbor and the area, but I feel like we have done everything we wanted to do and now I’m ready to go.
We are really stressing about what is happening back at the RV resort where we live in SOCAL. The board of directors fired two members, so they only have 3 of the 5. Most of the owners are gone for the summer, and with the pandemic everyone is naturally quite stressed. Well, the board decided to write some new rules which are to go into effect September 8th and we are invited to write comments to the GM and the Board. Oh my God, many of us are livid.
They keep raising our dues and giving us nothing in return. When we bought there was a rule that said the RVs had to be min of 30’ long, 5th wheels, or Class As, no trailers, toy haulers or class Cs, and they could not be older than 10 years. There was no exception. However, once you buy your lot and put your rig on it your rig is now “grandfathered” to that lot and can age gracefully, but must be maintained. Well, we know lots of people who have RVs 10 years or older that are immaculately maintained. So we finally fought for a committee to view these rigs and then “authorize” them. We were able to vote that in. The board gathered a committee of volunteers to do the inspections. A year later they started charging $100 for the rig to be reviewed, and if it didn’t pass and had to be reinspected, it was $50 for each re-inspection. Funny thing, HOA is charging $100., but the inspectors are volunteers. Another thing they arbitrarily started doing was trying to take money from us when we rented out our lots. They want to charge $100 for long term and $50 for short term. They are calling it a “processing fee”, but they are not processing anything and had nothing to do with finding a renter or anything else to do with our lot. It’s crazy.
Now, they want to make every Rig over 10 years old go through an inspection Again, and all 15 years and over to go through a yearly inspection. They are also trying to say that the rig is only allowed on the one lot, regardless of if the owner buys another lot and wants to move it, and no one in the park can buy it and move it to their lot. It’s ridiculous. We pay dues and any sort of administration stuff should be included in our dues, once a rig is authorized in the park it should be authorized to be on any lot the owner owns and wants to put it on and it should be sellable and able to go to the new owner’s lot. As long as it is well maintained it should not have to go through any more inspections and we the owners should not have to pay a fee for the inspection that we didn’t vote for in the first place.
Only a little hot under the collar about all of this.
So, we spent the morning writing up our issues about all the “proposed” new rules. We definitely wanted to have our say and wanted to get it written and in the mail. After writing them I scanned them and emailed them as well as mailed them in.
I was shocked to find that it was already 12:30 when we headed out the door. We decided we would go for a hike. When I realized what time it was I also remembered it was Thursday which meat it was Farmer’s Market Day.
We drove to the Harbor and walked up to 7 Seas Brewery. Rob wanted to get some beers for later. Bella and I went into “Lucky Dog” next door. Its a pet store. I bought her a really cute little doggy T-shirt. It is actually to small for her, but I am going to use it for a pattern.
We walked down to the water and went through the Farmer’s Market. We bought some Cinnamon Rolls, some honey, some flavored vinegar, and fresh produce. Then we walked back to the Jeep.
Next we drove over to this very cool, multi-trail park. It has multi use trails for hikers, bikers, horses, and some for bikes only. It was fun. Bella loves her hikes. That took us a couple hours and then we drove home.
We grilled some bacon, cheese burgers. Yum. I caught up on the blog and Rob called his friend back in Minnesota for a chat.
Sean is an attorney and has spent most of his adult life working in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is now the assistant district attorney and has spent many years working with and around Camilla Harris who is now the new running mate with Biden. Biden is running for President and he selected Camilla to be his running mate which would make her the first female Vice President and possibly the first female President of the United States. She was actually running initially and debated against Biden. Biden was selected as the Democratic Party nominee and it took him for ever to announce his running mate. Sean had nothing but good things to say about her.
Rob took my bike and rode down to the harbor. Anthony’s restaurant has the best peach ice cream that Rob has ever had and he was feeling the need for at least one more helping before we leave Washington.
We stayed in the rest of the evening.
