Friday, 8 July; Sequim to Port Angeles and back

It was really foggy this morning when we got up.  We could here the fog horn off in the distance.  It was great.  I love hearing the fog horns.  For some reason it brings me comfort.
We enjoyed our coffee and then Rob started getting the bikes and everything ready.
At about 11:00 we headed in to Sequim.  We went to the visitor center again and asked if it was ok to leave the truck parked there for the day.  The man there is really nice.  We had talked to him on Wednesday about where to go.  Rob got a map of the Olympic Discovery Trail and chatted with him about that.  I asked a woman about the Lavender Farms.  There are many here in Sequim.  I said
if I were only able to visit one farm which should it be?  She said "Oh, can you visit two?"  I said ok, so she pointed the two out to me on the map.  We probably won't get to visit them today, but definitely will before we leave.

We got the bikes and Bella's basket all ready and then set off on the trail.  Rob got a flat right there in the parking lot so we had to stop and he had to replace his tube.
Finally on our way at 12:09.  Our ride today is 20 miles from Sequim to Port Angeles.

We rode across some flat bridges and through some really pretty covered bridges.

There was a lot of slightly up hills and a couple steep downhills followed by steep uphills.  There were three of those and the 3rd one I could not ride up, so I took Bella out of the basket and let her walk while I pushed my bike up the hill.

We rode by a really pretty Lavender Farm.

The ride was beautiful.  Little rolling, paved path through town, farm land, forested areas and finally along the sea.

The weather was beautiful for us, although out in the distance you could really see this ominous clouds brewing.

The ride turned out to be 21.22 miles and it took us 2 and a half hours to complete.  our average speed was 8.5 mph.  due to the hills of course.  I was pooped.

We arrived at 2:30 and there was a Red Lion Hotel with a Crab House Restaurant at the end of the trail.  Perfect, because we were really hungry.
Rob had a crab sandwich with a side salad and I had a Crab &; Shrimp Louie salad.  It was really good.  We also ordered a hamburger patty for Bella.  For some reason we thought she must be starving after that long ride as well, although she only rode in the basket the whole way.
After we ate Rob rode all the way back to the truck and got it.

I wasn't real sure I would make it all the way back and if I couldn't there wasn't any good spot along the way to wait for him.  So I hung out in town and explored.

Its a fairly artsy town.

Those people (above) and the dog with its paws hanging over the sidewalk are all part of the painting!

On the way back to the RV Park we drove off the beaten path to take in some sites.
I really liked this house and its yard.

We also drove by this Lavender Farm with its giant purple chairs.
It was a great day and we were very tired at the end of it.
