Another warm, sunny day here in Leavenworth.
Unfortunately, it is bill day. Even on the road there are laundry days and bill days. Yuk!
So first things first, I took care of that requirement.
I hit the road at about 11:30. Destination?!....Cashmere. Since it rained when we were there yesterday we decided to go back today. While there yesterday I discovered they have Gnomes throughout the town. They have a map where you can find all the miniature, 6" doors. It is supposed to take an hour to do the walk and find them all. There are 30 of them.
It is considerably warmer today. It is already 85.
The first stop on the Gnome map is at the Applets & Cotlets store. I went in and looked all around. I bought a couple boxes, a Hawaiian style and a Tropical and then asked about the Gnomes. I asked them to point it out to me so I would know what I was looking for. She did. It was in the window and is a miniature Country Store front with the little Gnome door. Very cute. So we went on.
The next stop was at the City Planners. I spent about 5 minutes outside looking all around for a miniature red door and finally went inside to look. I was asked if I was looking for the Gnome and I told him yes and he informed me that they didn't have one yet. Hmmm. I feel better for not finding it. I went on to #s 3 and 4 which were supposed to be in the same building. However, the building was locked.
I decided this adventure would be more fun and actually requires the help of Rob. Perhaps after the bike ride along the Columbia River. So we moved onto our next adventure...Lunch.
We stopped in at a Bar-B-Q place and sat outside. I had a pulled pork sandwich and some chips. It wasn't especially good.
The 4 people are: Military Service Person; representing all services affected at the World Trade Center and Pentagon, both who died and now serving;
The Fireman; representing ALL the First Responders, fire, police, ambulance
The Office Worker; representing managers, secretaries, cooks and maintenance personnel who were the heart and soul of the buildings; and
The Flight Attendant; the first victim of 9/11 and representing all the crew and passengers.
In the opening you stand and can hold the hands of the two next to you. You represent all the others who perished. You complete the circle of unity. It is humbling.
There is a statue and plaque for the towers, Pennsylvania, and the Pentagon. It really is very moving.
From there we returned to Leavenworth. We walked along the river onto and off of the Island, through the Enchanted Park, and back. Then we wandered in and out of a couple stores and did a little wine tasting.
Finally we returned to our Meadow and our home on wheels.
It is only Wednesday and yet the meadow is filling up already. It is probably half filled up already. And it was pretty busy in town.
We were pooped, so we took a nap.
I called my Mom to wish her a happy birthday and was able to talk to Barbara as well. They had a fun day together.
I chatted with Rob who is in Kona, Hawaii on a layover.
He wanted to share the following pictures:
Plumerias, because I love them
A kitty shelter, so they can get out of the rain
And of course, the beautiful sunset
I watched TV and went to bed, missing him, missing Hawaii; grateful for the life we are living.
