Sunday, 24 July, our last full day in Leavenworth.

My knees are a little sore this morning.  Even with assistance I still had to pedal.

It is another beautiful morning here, except for the millions of people here in the meadow.  The good thing, though, is that most of them are packing up and leaving already.  By 8:30 many of them were leaving. Yippee! The people who were right behind us were somewhat obnoxious.  They had 4 dogs that were constantly barking.  Their little boy had a bit of a foul mouth and would ride his bike by constantly taunting Bella.  Needless to say, I am very happy that they are gone.
Today Rob wants to do another bike ride.  It is called Devils Gulch and it is 12 miles up hill.  Really?! Already?!
So we headed down to Cashmere.  That is where the trail head is.  I am not feeling so great about this.  I am really nervous.
I had told him about the Spirit of America, 9/11 memorial so we stopped in there first so he could see it.
Then we headed off to the trail.  It was a little ways up there and we went through sort of a scary section where people are living in falling apart trailers and out in the open in partial tents.  Judging by all the stuff around them they have been living like that for quite a while, like years.  Not sure how they handle the winters.
We got to the trail head and started off
Well, it was up and down hill, but the problem was it was really narrow, with cliffs on the edges.  I'm still learning about this bike and several times when I would try to use the assist it would lunge me into places I didn't want to be.  A couple times I got really stuck and Rob had to come and help me get unstuck.  It was a bit frustrating. Rob had his phone hooked to his chest and took several videos Here is one of us going up.
It was really stressful.  I really need to learn my bike better.
After about 3 miles, which included carrying the bikes over a big stream (which of course Rob had to do because my bike is so heavy), getting stuck in a ditch, and just plain exhaustion,
we decided to turn around.  Here is a video of the downhill, way more fun than the uphill!

We made it back to the car, filthy and sweaty and headed for home.  We did stop in at Safeway for a couple of snacking type items.
Bella was very happy to see us.  Rob wanted to dip in the river to cool off (and clean off.  We have been here two weeks and our gray water tanks are full, we have no sewer hook ups, so we can't take a shower in our rig.  We leave tomorrow and will dump on our way out).
Anyway, we grabbed Bella and went for a walk down to the river.  It was cold.  Rob went out first and it took him a while to dunk down over his head. Bella got really upset when he did.  She actually went into the water up to her sides.  She hates water.  I think she thought she needed to rescue him.  She also kept barking his disapproval at him which was a little annoying.  Once in and numb, Rob was enjoying the water.

I finally went in and after a lot of serious contemplation dunked down enough to get clean myself.
We headed back to the rig and enjoyed some beer, chips and salsa.  Then we grilled some Salmon and green beans.
I had picked up a movie at the Red box at Safeway so we watched that and then went to bed.
Another great day.
Oh;  Ken sent us some pictures. One of our Paella and two from our golf outings.
Isn't this Paella beautiful?!!
