We woke up to rain this morning. It was a little disappointing. It didn't last to terribly long, but it remained dark and overcast all day.
I got caught up on the blog. I was way behind.
Rob started getting antsy and loaded up the bikes. We decided we were going to do the ride that was recommended to us several days ago at that bike shop we first went to. It is called Fruend Canyon. The whole ride is only supposed to be 8 miles, but the first 4 miles are all up hill with a 1600' gain in altitude.
We drove out to the trail head and started up. The first mile wasn't to bad. It was a dirt road. At one mile it turned into a single track. It was pretty narrow and a little bit steep off the edges. I made it up another .33 miles and then started not feeling so great. Rob went on ahead of me while I rested, because he is a HE-Man. I decided today is not a real good day for me. I have been feeling a bit dehydrated over the past couple of days and cannot catch up.
When Rob came back to me I told him I was turning around and riding back to the RV. So I did. He continued up the trail and completed the ride.
I turned around and rode back down the 1.33 I had ridden up, plus the mile of dirt road we traveled on back to Fruend Road, and then the two down Chumstick, and back to Hwy 2 and then back to Riverbend Rd. and back to the RV park. I ended up doing 6.5 miles. It was a really good ride back to the Rig. Bella was very happy to see me.
I took and nice shower and changed clothes, then heated up my left over paella from last night and sat down and ate it. I listened to the ending of the book that I have been listening to when I drive over the past 2 months. It was pretty good.
Rob came back and fixed himself something to eat. He was bored so we walked into town. I told him we were crazy because the storm was just off in the distance and the rain, thunder and lightning was on its way. He said he'd run back and get the car if it started to rain badly.
We made it to town. He wanted to sit at one point and go over our travel plans for the next couple months. I told him I wanted to sit and go over it over a beer. He said he wanted to go to Gustav's and sit on the deck. We could see the rain coming. They were not very friendly at Gustav's and just as we got up on the deck the rain started to gently fall. We decided to go to the Sausage Garden. When we got there the rain started for real. We were able to find a table under the roof, but the wind still blew the rain on us. It poured and there was big mountainous thunder and lightening as well. We shared our table with a couple from Seattle and their friend from Tennessee. They had been over at Spokane and drove over just in time for the rain.
They were nice.
We huddled there until the storm eased up and then moved on to the Icicle Brewery, but they asked for Rob's ID when he went to buy the beer. He didn't have his ID so they wouldn't serve him. So, we left.
We went to the other brew garden where Ken, Barb, Rob and I went after our hike the other day. This time I went up and ordered the beer. We enjoyed our beer and a brat and met another nice couple. They are both Active Duty Air Force. They have only been married since April. He is stationed in Germany and she is back east somewhere. They are both on leave and are out here for a friend's wedding. He has to go back to Germany on Tuesday.
As it turns out, she has a heart condition and is going to be Medically discharged sometime next year. It was nice chatting with them, they were a nice young couple.
The rain had stopped and we'd finished our beers so we walked on back to the RV park.
Rob did his stretches and went to bed. He has to get up and leave at 5:00 tomorrow morning as he is driving to Seattle so he can fly back to LA. He has a 4 day trip starting on Tuesday. He will be back late Friday night.
I finished up the blog, flipped through the tv channels (there is absolutely nothing on), took the Boo out for her pee and went to bed.
