Sunday, 1 October, New Hampshire to Maine

Today we move on.  We sat for a little while enjoying our coffee and then started packing up. We had a 5 hour drive.
It was pretty drive.  I love New Hampshire.  I think it is a really beautiful state.  I love all the trees and the old homes that seem to have been maintained or restored. They have big yards and they are awesome.
I went ahead of Rob for the last hours or so.
Maine is different.  It seems lake there is more open space, and rocky areas.
We are going to a Military Rec center.  It is called Great Pond Outdoor Adventure.  It is a big lake called Great Pond.  It is off the main highway by several miles and the last 4 or 5 miles is a dirt road.  They apparently had been doing some work on the road because there are filled in ditches running across the road and some of them are not quite filled in all the way.  I hit a couple of them really hard.  I tried to text Rob to warn him, but there was absolutely no signal out her.
I got to the lodge and checked us in.  It was about 4:50 when I had arrived and I had started listening to the Raiders' game on the radio. When I checked us in I asked if there was going to be any TV reception and he said not unless you have satellite.  I asked about Wifi and he said not in the campground.  Then I looked at my phone and realized I had no cell signal either.

They gave me my choice of three sites so I went off to check them out.  #6 was our original assignment and #15 and #18 were available as well.  As I was returning the way I came I ran into Rob he drove the rig to the first spot and then jumped in the car wit me and we checked out the other two.  We decided on #18.  It is nice and big and we do have some view of the lake through the trees.
I drove off to go back to the lodge to let them know of our choice when I decided I had better help direct Rob into the spot.  So I did.  I left my car running with the radio turned up so we could sort of listen to the game while we were setting up.  Rob rode my bike back to the lodge to let them know which site we chose and I finished setting up.
A really big 5th wheel was pulling in across from us.  He noticed the Veterans plates on the Truck and asked about it.  I told hime we were both retired, Rob from the Air Force and me from the Army.  This Man had just retired from Active Duty Air Force and his wife from Air Force Reserves.  His name is Rene and his wife is Charmin. I said I'd better let him go.  He still didn't have his rig parked yet.  Its and big one too, 43 feet.
Rob had pulled the chairs out before he left so I turned my car around and opened the back doors.  There are speakers in the back doors. I set up the chairs and little tables, grabbed a glass of wine and settled in.  When Rob got back he fixed up a plate of fruits, crackers, and cheeses and grabbed a beer and we had a nice evening sitting outside listening to the game.  Unfortunately, the Raiders lost.  Derek (our quarterback) went out with a back injury.  Not good.  Broken leg last season and injured back this year.  I sure hope it isn't the beginning of the end for him.
The game ended around 8 or 8:30. We had no Tv to watch so we went to bed and read before going to sleep.
