So today we went to the Botanical Garden that we were going to go to on Monday. It is a lovely day, not raining, and so this is a better day.

It is a "People's Garden" and is celebrating 10 years. It is set on nearly 300 acres and began as an idea bon from a small group of visionaries in 1991 and welcomed its first visitors in 2007.

Now it has become the largest botanical garden in New England 

This wall is made up of wire boxes that are filled with planting soil and then planted and wired together into these frames.

This is one of the wire boxes.  They sold them in the gift shop here for $45.

Since it is fall they had all kinds of decorations set up.

  There were ponds

There were kids areas with fun things

Bella especially liked this bunny.

 Walking labyrinths are always fun as well

This is part of the senses garden.  You put your head in there and listen to the awesome echoes when you talk or hum or whatever.

 They have aVayo Meditation garden with wonderful stone seats, statuary, and a meditation pond.

The inside edges of this stone s all shinny and then the water is in it.

 Bella had a really tough time with all the chipmunks that tormented her along the trails, especially since we would not allow her to chase them.  They were not afraid of her at all.

This is a "pinecone" sculpture. It marks the intersection of several trails and is especially important because if you don't want to hike out you can catch a shuttle back to the visitor center.

 They had bear caves and Fairy houses

The trails also ran along the shoreline.

Rob totally remembers this book from his childhood.  They had a copy of it in the  kid's garden

This is the statue that goes with "Blueberries for Sal".  The little bear and the pail of blueberries.

 There were still beautiful flowers this time of year, both in the water and on land.

 After the garden we wandered around the cute town of BoothBay

Again, it is the end of the season and many of the places were not open, or this was the last week for them to be open, or they were only open for dinner.  This was one that said they were open for lunch, but as it turned out, they were not open this day.  We did finally find a place and had a nice late lunch.
From there we went back home.  
Rob went off to the gym and I started putting stuff away and getting things ready to move tomorrow.
