Friday 10 March; Fresno to Palms Springs?!

We woke up fairly early.  We have two things we need to get taken care of before we can leave for Tucson this morning.
Phil, the nice plumber, needs to come by and fix the drain, and the garbage men need to come by an empty the containers so that we can put them away.
Phil came by right away, like maybe 8:30 or 9.  He was quick in getting everything fixed.  Then, the garbage men came by.
I showered and the loaded the car.
We hit the road just before 10 am.  We decided we were going to go to the Moronga Casino which is only a four hour drive and spend the night there.
The trip started out just fine, except we missed our first stop which was Bravo Farms. Rob asked me to get some beer for him.  I generally stop in on the way to Mom's.  It is really well marked going Northbound. But southbound it is not marked very well.  We missed it and had to backtrack 20 miles.  We got there and I looked at their beer selections.  Unfortunately,  they didn't have what he wanted.  We bought some yogurt pretzels and yogurt raisins.  Mom also got some caramel corn.
We got back on the highway and headed out to a winery thinking we would do a little tasting..  We arrived at the winery but it is more of a distribution center.  No tasting here
We got back in the car and I pulled out roadtrippers and started reading off the various activities and said, or, we can just head straight to Morongo Casino Resort.
Mom didn't want to stop anywhere so we decided to just go straight through.
It was smooth sailing down through Bakersfield and over the grapevine.  It went to shit though when we got down to LA area and hit the 210.  There we started crawling along, and I do mean crawling.  It was horrible.  It took us 3 hours to go from Why 5 to I-10.  Then I-10 was slow as well.  It was crazy.
We were listening to a book on Audible.  "Hidden Figures: the book about the Black Mathematicians and especially the "computers" working for Nasa. It is good and interesting, and historical, but it began to really wear on me as we were stuck in traffic.
Finally I turned it off and listened to jazz.  We finally got to Morongo only to find out that it was completely booked up.  I asked for suggestion and she said there was a Holiday Express back about 20 miles so we went there.
It was actually really nice.  We had a nice handicapped room right on the first floor, close to the entrance and the breakfast room.  That made it nice for Mom to not have to go far to breakfast in the morning and not very far for Bella and I to go outside to go potty.

We chilled for a minute or so in the room and had a glass of wine.  Bella loves hotel rooms and all the cool pillows that are piled on the beds.

Then we went to a really nice and yummy seafood restaurant for dinner.  It was very good.  We came back and chatted for a bit.
We decided that we wanted to stay another night at this hotel.  We would have the free breakfast here in the morning, chill for a little while, then go over to Morongo for a little gambling and lunch at the buffet, then a little more gambling.
Meanwhile, Rob is on a "Boys Weekend"  He went with a couple buddies from the bay area up to a friend's home in Mendocino.  I don't know what all the pictures are, but I can come back and update once I know for sure.  In the mean time; here are his pics.

I believe that Rob is riding in Ag's car and they are driving to Mendocino

Meanwhile, back at the hotel in Banning, we watched some TV and then went to bed.
