Interesting day today. We aren’t sure what to do or how it is going to play out. We are hoping that Seth received the new gear box and that he is going to be able to finish up the work today so we can leave tomorrow, but we haven’t heard
It’s cold this morning, so we sat inside rather than out. I decided it would be a good time to clean. We are in a forest and everything gets brought inside. We need to get a door mat for the outside. I vacuumed and dusted and started in on the bathroom.
At about 8 am Seth called and told us he had the parts and would be there in an hour. I was just finishing my shower when he arrived.
He went straight to the motor under the bed. Why does Murphy have to show up everywhere? The original motor is cheap China made and the replacement is US made. There is a little pin in the new one that is just a tad longer than the china and so it won’t fit. Jeez. Seth fought for a while and was able to get the pin out of the new part and replace it with the one in the old part and then it all fit. Yippee. Our slide is working again from the switch on the wall rather than with the drill attached to the mechanism under the bed.
Next is to reinforce the drawer brackets and put new sliders in. We decided it would be a good time time to take Bella out for a walk. She wants to go after his ankles any time he moves.
We went for a nice walk and then just sat outside while waiting for Seth to finish up. He finished about 12:30.
We had been debating about weather to go play golf or go Mountain biking. It is our last day here. I was torn. I’d rather ride, but I’d rather not have Bella locked inside.
We decided on biking, but decided to take Bella and go visit Traveler’s Rest first.
It was pretty disappointing. Inside the visitor’s center they have displays of stuff archeologists had found as remnants of Lewis and Clark’s stay. It was interesting, but there were people inside and we didn’t have masks with us so we didn’t want to spend to much time there.
We went outside where they have a walking trail with various items of interest. This was the part that was disappointing, for two reasons. First, we were getting eaten up by mosquitos so had to move quickly. Second, the write ups about the displays were very buried and elementary.
We returned to the RV, Dropped Bella off And wet off for our Mountain. bike adventure.
We did the same trail that rob did a couple days ago. The first thing I did, while in the parking lot, while just getting on my bike was fall over. Ka Pow. Giant bruise and scrape on my hip and sprocket gouges on the back of my calf. Rob was not happy about that. How are you going to do the trail if you are falling before we even leave the parking lot. That upset me.
We shook it off and headed out. It was lovely. A big climb to start out with, but pretty easy with my Ebike. I put it in standard and climbed on up. Rob had to work.
The next section is called “Sound of Music”.
Then we went through the forest. It was also really pretty.
The wild flowers we everywhere and so pretty.
We went through a couple kinda scary, steep downhill parts, but most of it was pretty benign and really fun. We came out on top of “Sound of Music” with amazing views.
It actually took your breath away. The rest of the way down was pretty and fairly easy.
After the ride we went to the grocery store and then home.
I had been cooking a pork shoulder in the crock pot all day for pulled pork. My first ever attempt at it. It turned out good. Kind of flat tasting, but that will be fine. Tonight I made burrito bowls, and all the other stuff was flavorful. Tomorrow Incan add Bar-B-Q sauce to some of the meat and we can have pulled pork sandwiches. Yum.
While watching Yellowstone I told Rob we need to check to to make sure none of Seth’s screws went through to the TV compartment. He checked and sure enough, two of them were. That would have scratched the you-know-what out of the TV while traveling. He got some clippers and cut them off. It may still be a hazard, but I will ensure the TV is wrapped and padded before we go.
