TUESDAY, 7 JULY; LOLO TO WHITEFISH.MT

Tuesday, July, 7, 2020; Lolo, Mt

Well today we move on.  We have been here 6 nights and I am ready to move on.  The area is beautiful with the hills, rivers, mountains, and all the horses, but I am excited to get to Whitefish and the Kalispell area.
We sat with our coffee for only a little while before getting antsy and wanting to move on.
We packed up and were on the road by 9:30.
It was real pretty going through the rest of the LoLo valley.  We went along the National Bison Range although I don’t remember seeing any.  Now just outside of Lolo, on the way to Missoula, there was a huge heard of Bison.  Bella didn’t quite know what to make of them because she thought they were cows, but then realized the weren’t.
The whole drive was only 3 hours.
Around Evaro and Saint Ignatius we start end driving along this beautiful mountain range.

I looked on my mapping program for the name of the mountains, but was not able to find it.  I thought maybe it was the mountains in Glacier Nat’l Park, but Rob said no.
We continued on and went along Flathead Lake. We stayed in Lakeside, across the street from Flathead lake for six weeks four years ago.  I loved it.  We finally drove through Lakeside and I was able to see where we stayed and the Marina across the street.  I was glad to see that the lakeside cafe was still operating.
We bypassed Kalispell and went on to Whitefish.  We found our spot and set up easily.  A really nice man who works here in the park came by and started chatting with Rob while he was setting up Bella’s fence.  I was afraid that he was going to tell us we couldn’t have it, but that was not the case.  I went out and chatted with him as well.  He told us there is a gate that we can ride our bikes around and then there is a bike trail that goes all the way in to downtown a Whitefish.  He told us the good spots to eat, and that there was an Ace Hardware near by that had an RV section.
There were big black clouds hanging over the downtown area and they had some thunder and lightning in them.  We were waiting for them to pass.
They finally did, so we took the bikes and Bella and rode downtown.
They were starting to set up for the Tuesday night Farmers Market.  I remember it from before, but we have dinner plans so won’t be able to attend this evening.
The ride was nice, through downtown and then out to the lake, and then back along the river,
We returned to the rig, showered and then headed south to meet our friends at Spencer’s, a steak house just south of Whitefish.  There we met Kris and Darby and Phyllis and Lee. Kris and Phyllis are my golfing buddies from Pahrump. And Kris and Darby took us on our very first jeeping adventure.  Kris also quilts and cross stitches so we have that in common and share our projects via text often.
Phyllis and Lee are Montanans.  They live here all summer and spend their winters in Pahrump.  However, they have the Pahrump house for sale and are hoping to buy something in Florida where they will spend their winters.
Kris and Kirby are up here in their Motorhome and have been here for three weeks.  Sadly, they said it’s been raining pretty much the whole time they have been here.  Sadder still, they are leaving tomorrow and are heading back to Pahrump.
It was a really fun evening catching up with the Four of them.  We had great food and conversation.
We will get to see more of Phyllis and Lee while we are here.  I’m looking forward to that.
We headed back to our rig, and eventually went to bed.
