I got Rob a Garmin smart watch for Christmas. It keeps track of his heart rate, all his activities and a bunch of other stuff. It finally arrived yesterday. This morning he is watching all the videos to learn everything it does. He is very smart to do that. I should do that for all my silly devices.
Bella is curled up in her bed next to me and I am working on getting the blog printed up.
When we went cross-country in 2009 I started the blog and I had it printed up into a book when we were done. I love having it. It is like having a diary but with pictures included. Anyway, I jumped on it to have this past year printed. I was having problems because it is too big. I ordered the first one which goes through Tuesday, 28 June, Seattle to Fresno. I figured fine, that's half the year, I'll do the rest of the year for Vol-2. Nope, too big.
So, this morning I went on line and "live chatted" with a gal at the company. I told her I wanted to print up the rest of the year from Wednesday, 29 June through Sat. 31 Dec. Soooo, she is working on it. She will get the volumes put together and then send me an email so I can review them. Yippee! It is so cool to have these to be able to go back through our adventures. Way better than photo albums.
So, that takes us to 8:30 this morning. Our plan is to be out of here by noon. We are heading to Potrero, CA today. It is the meet-up place for the caravan trip. We aren't actually supposed to meet up until tomorrow, but I understand there are already a couple people there so we will get to meet some of them today. I am really excited.
Did I tell you, though, that there is a fuel strike going on in Mexico right now. If they don't get it resolved we won't be able to go. That would be very disappointing, but we would just continue across the Southern states in search of warmer weather. Cross your fingers everyone!
Well, it wasn't 12:00 when we hit the road, it wasn't even 12:30. It was 1:30 when we finally pulled out of there.
We had some things going on. We completely unpacked and repacked the downstairs storage. That led to some items that we decided we didn't need and some that we just needed to throw away. The stuff we didn't need we took over to our lot. While there our new neighbors were there. I had met Craig, but not Pam and Rob hadn't met either one. So we went over and introduced ourselves and our dogs. They are both named Bella. They are both very nice and we chatted too long. Then we needed to go to the post office. I dropped Rob off at the road to the PO and then Bella and I went up front to pick up our propane tanks that had been filled. I had to wait awhile for security to come and open it up so we could get our tanks.
Then we went back to lot 131 to finish hooking up and loading up. We were almost ready and then I decided I wanted my iPad. It was way in the back on the couch. I went to open up the big slide so I could get through to the back and it wouldn't go. The motor just made and totally disconnected noise. Shoot. So, we got out the crank. First we found the recliner crank spot, then the kitchen, and finally the sofa. Unfortunately it was missing the little screw that it has to connect to. But, Rob found one, crawled under and hooked it up. He cranked it out a little ways and then told me to try the switch again. Yippee! it worked!. I must have closed it to tight.. So we finally got under way. But instead of leaving, we went over to lot 361.
I forgot to tell you about....Rob's friend Barry who recently retired from Alaska Airlines, and his wife Della. They are renting a lot here in the Resort. They arrived just after Christmas, and came over to have wine and dessert with us. It was the first time I had met either one of them and the first time Rob had met Della. It was a nice eve. Unfortunately, they were leaving right away to go to Rancho Bernardo and so we didn't get to spend much time with them. They are both very nice. We went over to their lot to drop our golf cart off to them. They were not there, so we were unable to give them hugs goodbye. They are new to RVing and doing small trips at a time. Hopefully we will meet up with them again somewhere on the road.
Anyway, we finally left the park at 1:25. I think we passed the new tenants on the road leading out. It was about a 2.5 hour drive to Potrero. Once we got past San Diego it was new territory for both of us.
The drive was pretty. Especially this time of year. The hillsides are all green. In the summer, of course, they would be all brown.

It is very different riding in the truck again. It is a little scary. I was very aware of the big ole rig behind us. It was very bumpy, although just about the time I was thinking, "forget this, I want my car back", Rob said, "I think the rig is a lot smoother now after the work that was done", Oh brother, I'm in for a ride. The other thing is that our truck is really gutless. We really do need a new one, but it'll have to do for awhile. Especially since if we are going to get a replacement it is probably going to be a freight-liner so we are able to pull (and stop) the Teton. They are expensive, so it'll be awhile.
OK, back to now. We got to Potrero around 4:30. It is a nice park park and then a small section of it is an RV/camping/small cabins. It is tucked into the woods. We got positioned and everything all pulled out and hooked up and then went for a quick walk about. It was nice. Just about 20 minutes through the RV grounds and then part of the park before it got too dark.
At 1820 (6:20 pm) we were notified (via text message) of the Iridium Flare. It is a satellite that orbits about and it catches the sun just right and flares for a second or so. It is the first time we have seen it and it was really cool. Barry & Della told us about it. We often catch the International Space Station when it goes over head and that is always fun.
We came in and fixed some dinner. We have no TV reception so we listened to some nice music. Rob played wii golf and I worked on the blog.
Oh, I wanted to share with you how "Un-spoiled" little Bella is. She had a dramatic day riding in the bouncy truck, not knowing where we were going and all.
I soon thought she had the best idea and went to bed as well.
I have not heard back from the Shared book lady about my blog printing yet. Hmmmm
