Monday, 16 Jan, La Paz to Los Barrelis

Boy, getting out of La Paz is something else.  La Paz is the biggest city in Baja.  And it probably took us an hour just to get through it.
Today is our shortest leg of the journey and we are all happy about that.
We climbed over mountains again, and followed winding roads and finally were able to see the sea again
This was a nice church we passed in El Triufo.
We finally got into Los Barriles around 11 fish.  We drove through the cute little town and finally out to our RV Park which is called Playa Norte.  We all pulled in. Oh, actually, Ken and Linda from Canada (they have the little dog Rico) are missionaries and they found a group in La Paz that they hooked up with are are staying there to do work.  We miss them.  They were a really sweet couple.
So, 9 rigs pulled in and they weren't quite ready for us.  As it turned out, it was a good thing.  We were supposed to go into a caravan circle way in the back, but as it turned out we all got spots right on the beach.  This time with hook-up.
We got all set up on our little beach spot.  Lori and John are next to us on our left again, but this time Chuck and Laurie are on our right.
It is really windy here.  As it turns out there is going to be a big Kitesurfing festival later this week with various competitions,  It is supposed to last three days.
We watched the kite surfers for a little while and then Lori, John, Jan and Steve, Todd and Carolyn, and Steve and Dense headed down the beach for a walk.
Carolyn and Toddy stopped off at the first beach cantina called El Geckos for a beer.  Denese and Steve stopped in at the next one to get some water and talk to some bikers who were there.  The rest of us continued on down the beach.  We realized that if we left the beach and headed for the road we would be in town.  Not only that, but we would be very close to the other RV park that Rob and I have reservations in from the 18th until the first week in March.  So, we all headed over there.
We came out on the street and walked past a really nice produce market, then past a deli market, and then across the street into the RV park.  It is really nice.  It is not on the beach, but it's right in town walking distance to everything.  It also isn't as windy which I prefer.  They have a pool, laundry, wonderfully clean bathroom and showers and it is really going to be nice staying there.
Several of the people in our group are staying at the Playa Norte for 6 days, 10 days. or a month.  We decided we would stay until Thursday the 19th and then move.
We walked back and saw that Todd and Carolyn were still at El Gecko, so Steve, Jan, Rob & I joined them.  It was happy hour, so you got two drinks (which they brought both to you at once) for the price of one.  We had some beers and then decided to order some nachos.  We had beef on ours and they had chicken on their.  They were the best nachos I have ever had.
We walked on back to our spots and were going to go in and play Pictionary again, but instead we ended up gathering around the fire again.
Jennifer (from Truckee, CA) and Tony arrived about 6:30.  She has a condo in San Jose Del Cabo and they are going to work on it for a couple days.  They were beat.  They have been driving for just under 12 hours straight.  They stayed and visited for a little while and then they hit the road and continued our journey.
After they left we went in and went to bed.  I am still fighting with this cold, coughing and sniffling.
