Man; It is all overcast and ugly outside. It looks like it may rain, but apparently the storm is to the North of us and moving East. We sat outside and drank our coffee for a bit, but then the wind started coming up so I decided to go in and start packing up to hit the road. Rob followed suit.
We got everything all tucked and pulled in and got on the road by 9:20.
We took a bunch of back roads rather than the major highway. I was very careful to set my cruise control, no more tickets for me. It was a really pretty drive. The country around her is so pretty. More rolling hills, but trees as well. And a ton of lakes. Oh yeah, Minnesota, "the land of ten thousand lakes."
At about 11 mile from our destination I stopped in at Walmart to get a new pot for that 2nd tomato plant I bought at the farmers market. One of the plants was to replace one that was really looking terrible. But I was still one pot short. Rob is not thrilled. Now we have 5 plants, one basil and 4 varieties of tomato. We have ripe tomatoes on two of the plants and the basil is doing really well as well. Oh well, at least it is not the plumeria. I had intended to get a tomato cage, bug spray and water while there, but Rob called me right when I was arriving and told me he was actually closer to the park than I was. So, in my rush to get to him and help set up I only got the pot, two trays for under the pots and soil. I forgot everything else.
Rob was still checking in when I got to the park. The man was really nice and loves Veterans so he was thrilled to meet us.
We found our spot and got nestled in pretty easily. We set everything up and then called Chuck to let him know we are here. Rob also called Sean, his friend from the Bay area. Sean also has a home here that his wife and son stay in so that the son can play hockey. We made arrangements to get together with them tomorrow night and watch, what every one hopes is the final basketball game of the NBA championship. Of course hoping that Golden State Warriors win.
I planted my two tomatoes and then we went for a walk about while waiting to hear back from Chuck. It started to rain so we went back home. Chuck called back and they were going to come by here.
Twenty minutes later Chuck and Laurie arrived. We had a really nice visit with them. As you recall, they are one of the couples we met on the caravan to Mexico and then hung out with the whole time. They are fun people. Today is Chuck's 65th Birthday.
We visited for awhile and made plans to go to their house for dinner Tuesday night. They left and Rob and I chilled, watched TV ate some dinner and went to bed.
