Sunday, 4 June; Bad Lands South Dakota.

This is probably going to be our last opportunity to travel and explore this area.  Rob leaves in the wee hours tomorrow morning for a two day trip.  He will return Wednesday night. We are planning, at this point, to leave the following day.  We will head off to Sioux Falls and explore that area for a couple days then head into Minnesota.
But for today... A trip to the Badlands National Park.
We headed out and the road took us to Wall.  I had looked at some Minitonka sandals but didn't buy them.  I asked Rob if we could stop in and he could visit the place and I could buy the sandals I wanted.  Originally the ones I wanted were brown, but then I remembered I already have some brown ones.  They also have them in blue denim and that is what I decided I was going to get.  Unfortunately  they did not have my size, so no luck this time either.
We went on to Badlands.  It is pretty wild. It sort of reminded us of Hoodoos in Bryce Canyon.

There were several lookout points along the road.  You can look for miles and see no sign of civilization (except for the other tourists standing beside you).  It is more than 160 square miles.

At first there are miles of grasslands of the High Plains but then within a mater of inches, the ocean of prairie transforms into a vast and jumbled wilderness of impenetrable Badlands terrain. There are buttes, spires and valleys.  There are 8 marked hiking trails that vary from .25 to 10 miles round trip.

There were a group of bike riders.  They are riding across South Dakota.  They rode today from Deadwood and this is their stopping point for today.
We drove on down to the town of Custer.  We stopped in and got some lunch.  Rob had a buffalo burger between two portobello mushrooms rather than buns.  I had a tostada (with buffalo meat) on flat bread rather than a tortilla.  It was good, but I ended up scraping it all off the flat bread and only ate a quarter of the bread and gave half of the rest of it to Rob.

There we went into Hot Springs.  We didn't didn't spend much time there.  It was hot, like in the 90s.

Rob wanted to finish our round of golf since the weather was nice.  First day without dark clouds and rain sneaking in.
We got there about 4:30 and had a great time.  It was cooler, back into the low 80s and a gentle breeze.  There was no one in front of us and no one behind.  It was really nice.  We didn't even tie up Bella.  She only got out a couple of times at very appropriate times.

I actually played decently.  Rob did as well and remained in a very good mood.
There was a really cool duck with a top notch and she had babies.  They were cute.

I was really craving a margarita.  We looked on Yelp for places for margaritas.  We found a good place in Rapid City, but when we got there it was a hotel and you either had to be a guest or a member of the club in order to enter.  So, we had to move on.  The lady at the desk told us that Que Pasa has good margaritas, so we walked down there.  We sat outside on the patio which was really pleasant.  I had a couple very yummy margaritas and shrimp ceviche.  Funny, I can't remember what Rob had.
It was late when we left.  We got back, watched a little bit of TV and Rob went to bed.  I watched a little bit more and then I went to bed as well.
