Soon, though, we had to come in and pay bills. Yuk. Then we took Bella for a nice long walk in the field across from us. It is huge and she gets to run around, off leash, and stick her nose in all of the holes.
After that we drove over to the little golf course here at the resort. We grabbed a couple push carts, paid our fee and headed out.
It is a pretty little course and well maintained. It is only 9 holes, and two of them are par 4. The rest are all par 3. We decided to play 18 on the 9 so we each played two balls on every hole. One thing I did learn is that my Nike Mojo is not as good as my Calloway ball. Who'd a thunk.
They have cute little bathroom/out houses on the course.
On the 8th hole while Rob was Teeing off and Bear went meandering across the fairway.
It wandered into the woods on the other side of the fairway and then strolled up toward us. We finished teeing off and then headed away from it toward the hole. We didn't see it again.
We finished the round and then headed home for some lunch.
At about 2:00 we headed into town to do a bike ride. They have a paved trail that runs all the way to Duluth. We had to drive into town to get on the trail and along the route were these statues
Behind them is a big pit. During the horrible fire of 1894 fish, there was a huge explosive fire that tore through Hinkley. It was super fast and over 400 people perished. They say over 400 because of the Indians in the area that perished as well but they didn't know how many. Back to the pit. It was a gravel. It was very big and deep and had spring water coming up in the bottom. Anyway a couple hundred people and domestic animals fled into the pit during the fire. They stayed in the pit for 3 hours and when they crawled out everything around they was totally destroyed.
There is also a museum in town dedicated to the fire, but we didn't go in.
The ride was somewhat boring. It went along some rivers and ponds and pretty open fields. But, it was very flat. I prefer mountain biking. Anyway, what made it fun was that Rob wanted to do it on his road bike and he wanted to do 30 to 40 miles. Fine! So, I cranked my ebike up to 18 - 20 mph and maintained that speed. When he'd say I need to slow down I'd say "hell no. You wanted a work out and here it is. Until the turn around point this is the speed. Keep up! By the way, do you want to do 30 or 40 miles?" At 15 miles we turned around and I slowed down to about 16 mph, but he kept going faster so we did maintain 16 - 19 all the way back.
We crossed over this road so I had to take a picture.
We stopped in town and got a couple movies to watch. One was about a young Jewish man in Hungary who kept dressing up as a Nazi Officer and went about saving people from being taken away or being shot. It was really good.
The second was a Lego Batman movie. It was to stupid even for Rob to watch so we went to bed.
