Our destination today is Rapid City, South Dakota. It is another 6 hour driving day.
We both stopped in at a truck stop and grabbed some coffee. I followed Rob for a little, but then as usual, Bella and I drove on ahead. Our job is to find the RV park, register, find our site and then text Rob where it is and how to get into it. We keep checking in with each other to make sure all is well.
Bella and I stopped at McDonald's and got a sausage mc muffin with egg. Yum! and more coffee and then drove on.
At least the speed limit is 75 and then 80. That's nice. The drive was pretty, but my windshield was so full of splattered bugs that I couldn't take any pictures through it. Yuk.
About 30 miles from RC the speed limit dropped down to 65. Oops, I missed it and got pulled over by South Dakota's finest HP. One of the men was seasoned and the other was in training. They informed me that I was pulled over for speeding and went back to the car with my license and registration. They were back there for bloody forever. At least 30 min. Finally they came back and asked me how fast I thought I was going and I told them probably 80. He said we got you at 95. In a 65 SHIT!. My ticket is $220. Damnit. At least I can mail it in and don't have to appear.
15 miles later the speed limit was back up to 80.
We got into Rapid City. It is beautiful, green rolling hills. Really really pretty. We are staying at Hart Ranch RV Resort. We are staying under our Resort Parks International (RPI) so it is costing us only $18 per night, but we can only stay for 7 nights then the rate goes up to $65.
I registered us and located our site. I parked my car in it and then Bella and I went for a walk-about. They have a pool and 4 hot tubs which all open this weekend (Memorial Day weekend); they have volley ball, horse shoes and Bocci Ball. They have a 9 hole golf course and an 18 hole frisbee golf course. They have a garden, a paint ball area and a BMX bike course. They also have a walking trail all around the place. I had told Rob to text me when he was turning onto the road and told him Boo and I were walking.
He did so I drove up and met him at the entrance and led him to our spot.
Across the road from us are about 12 little cabins with drive ways. It was really easy for Rob to park into our spot. He just started his backing turn, then pulled forward into the cabin drive way and then backed straight in to our spot. Simple. We set everything up. Hook ups, slides out, stuff back where it belongs and fence. Then we went for a walk about. I showed Rob where everything was and then we did the walk around the whole park. It was really nice.
After that we drove into town. We walked along main street and found a place to eat dinner. The Firehouse Brewing company.
It is really cool. they have a very neat bar and inside dinning and all over the walls are patches from different fire department from all over the states.
Naturally we asked about Tucson in honor of John Barbee. Rob went off in one direction and I went off in another and low and behold......I found it.
We wandered around town a bit and found graffiti alley.
Painting is allowed by permit, but.......
Not everyone follows the rules.
We went back to the RV park and the rig and went to bed.
