Monday, 27 November; LA and Laguna Woods.

Rob got home at about 8 am.  He changed clothes and we chatted a bit and then went off to meet Jonelle at the Military housing. The LA Air Force base is a small base with its housing in San Pedro at Fort McArthur.  They are a bit of a distance away from the base so quite often the military personnel rent homes closer to base.  This leaves many of the military homes unoccupied.  So, they have now opened them up to retired military, DOD civilians etc.  So we went to check them out.
Wow the very first one she showed us we fell in love with.  There is a view of the ocean from the front and a view of Catalina Island in the back.  It is a two story with nice open kitchen onto a open living room, and master bedroom with walk-in shower downstairs and three bedrooms with full bath upstairs.  It is beautiful and would work really well for Mom.  She could have the master downstairs and we would take the whole upstairs.  We checked out a couple other places that we didn't think would work.
There are two problems.  They have to offer the homes that have been empty for the longest.  They offer to active duty first and then to retired and then DOD.  The chances are pretty good, but not guaranteed that we would be able to get that particular home in March when we are ready.  The other problem is that the home is $4098./month.  That is really steep and it doesn't have the club houses and other activities that Laguna Woods has.
We contacted Dave at Laguna Woods and asked if we could meet him and look at the furnished rental again.  He said sure and he also showed us another unit for lease.  We didn't like it at all.  We decided we would go ahead and lease the one that is available in March.  I think it will work out OK.
We went to the Rock and Roll Brewing company for dinner and a brew and then went back to the Teton for the night.
We have to leave for the airport at 5:30 am so we went to bed early.
