We decided that we would go to the movie today. I called Barbara but got her machine. I left a message with her telling her when and where we were going for the movie and hoped she would join us.
We went off to our favorite Breakfast Restaurant, "Red Apple Cafe". They always have a wait, so Mom and I always get their bloody mary while we wait, Rob didn't want one.
We finally were seated and Rob was cold so he went back out to the car to get a jacket. When he came back in he stopped at a table and chatted with the people for a long time. I thought it quite curious because I know he doesn't know anyone in town. I thought maybe someone saw his Medical Service Corps T-shirt and asked him about it.
As it turned out. When he was coming back in he saw a vehicle in the handicapped parking space that had a license plate that said. BellX1A. The Bell caught his eye because of Bella, but the Bell X1A is the plane that broke the sound barrier back in 1947. When Rob came in he approached a gentleman sitting in a wheel chair and asked him if he flew the X1A. The crotchety old man replied, "I flew every God Damn airplane the Air Force had". The woman sitting with him asked Rob if he flew and Rob said, "Yes, I'm a pilot", to which the crotchety old man said "So What?!". The wife asked Rob if he recognized the crotchety old Man and Rob, quite embarrassed, said "I do Now". The crotchety old man is Chuck Yeager. He, indeed, did fly the X1A and He is the one who broke the sound barrier. He in fact did fly every airplane the Air Force had. He is somewhere between 91 and 94 now.
When Rob came back to our table he relayed the story to us. He was in Awe of Yeager, but Mom and I thought he was an Ass.
After our breakfast, as we were leaving, the Yeager's were leaving as well and Rob got a picture with Chuckie Boy. Both were smiling. Rob posted it on Facebook.
We went to the movie in the afternoon. Barbara did not join us. The movie was awesome. We all laughed and cried. That's the best kind of movie.
We went back to Moms and Rob and I took everything out of Mom's kitchen and did a spring cleaning. We threw old stuff away and rearranged stuff so it would be easier for her to find things. It felt good and looks great.
We had left over Chinese food for dinner. It was still yummy.
