We got up this morning and chilled for a bit reading and playing on the computers. We went for a quick walk and let Bella do her business and explore. Then we packed an over night bag. We gathered food for Bella and a few other items and then set out.
Our destination is New York City. We have reservations at the Time Square Hotel which as the name says is only about 4 short blocks from Time Square.
We found the hotel and the parking garage and checked in. They kindly let us check in early. Check in is normally 3pm and we arrived at 1:30. We went up to our room on the 9th floor. There is no view, but that's ok. We are only staying one night. We dropped our bags, put a sweater on the Boo Dog and headed for Time Square. I am a little nervous after the attack here in New York yesterday. Anytime there is a large crowd or an event I am uncomfortable now. But it is well barricaded so at least no cars can enter.
We went to the bleacher area and looked around. Time Square is so amazing with all the people and the neon and stuff going on. .
Our reason for being here is to go to the kiosk and get reduced tickets for a broadway show for tonight.
A portion of the US Olympic Winter Team is here. Some of their skiers, snow borders, and curling team. The event is sponsored by Hershey's chocolate. Their booths open at 3 pm as does the ticket office.
Bella and I stayed in the bleachers while Rob stood in line until the line started to move.

I joined Rob in line and we chatted with a nice couple who were from Boston. They recommended we see Hello Dolly as it was starring Bette Midler. We were excited about that, but when we got up to the booth we learned that Bette Midler was not going to be in it tonight, her stand in was so we didn't get tickets for it.
We wandered through town headed for Central Park. We wanted to do some walking before dinner and the show.
I love the carriages.
It was cool, but not freezing which was nice. Long sleeves and a vest were plenty.
I really do love Central Park. There is so much going on, Including a Carousel
The views are quite awesome as well
We discovered that they were setting up for the New York Marathon that will take place this Sunday. This is obviously a big event.
We continued our walk and decided to stop in at the Tavern on the Green for an adult Beverage. It was a really nice place. We sat in the bar/lounge on a comfy couch.
Rob had a beer and I had a nice glass of wine.
Poor Bella only had water!
We wandered on some more.
| This is the building where John Lennon of the Beatles lived. Unfortunately, it was in front of this building where he was shot and killed. |
| This is a memorial in the park for John Lennon. Imagine was one of his songs. The memorial is in a part of the park named Strawberry Field. It is also a name of one of his songs. |
| Today the memorial has roses and a sheet of paper on which the names of the victims from yesterdays attack on the bike path at the World's Trade Center. |
We continued walking and enjoying the lovely park and its views of the city
We came upon a couple who had just gotten married and were being photographed. They were very cute.| This is where they were married and they were still playing music. |
We continued on and came upon this lovely bridge with the view in the back ground. We asked this guy if he would take our picture. He said sure and started to take it with his camera. We said wait, take it with ours. He said ok and then managed to take a picture of himself first. We thought it was pretty funny which is why we included it in this blog.
There were squirrels and chipmunks everywhere and Bella so wanted to chase then. Yukkily we also saw mice and even rats. Yuk!
More lovely views.
We continued walking through the park and came upon this man making these giant bubbles. He was really good at it.
He had a tip jar and Rob gave him a dollar. Then the man asked Rob if he wanted to try it. Rob did, so they man showed him how. It is not quite as easy as it looks, but Rob did ok.
And then we came upon ice skaters. It was an interesting rink. They had a section blocked off for hokey practice, an area for free skating and an area blocked off in the middle for lessons. Nice
And of course, a lovely view in the background.
We stopped in at a nice Italian restaurant for dinner. It was good food, but way to much of it and unfortunately I had to leave half of it. It was a nice pasta dish with shrimp, clams, muscles and calamari.
We returned to Hotel to get ready for the play and to drop Bella off. We gave her some dinner, which thankfully she gobbled down and then gave her water. She seemed to know she was in for the night so she got up on the pillows and snuggled in. Rob and I headed out again.
I love the fall decorations. This was in a park area on our walk to the Theater.
And the play we went to see......Drum roll please......
It was a lovely theater and the show was really good.
In hind sight though, we both wished that we had seen Wicked or Cats or something else. We had both seen the movie, Chicago and regardless of how good a play is it will not compare to the movie. Also, we already knew the story and the songs. They did an excellent job.
We walked on back to the hotel and went to bed.
